Late at night the main quads at the University of Chicago can be a downright spooky place - especially when you are between terms, the place is deserted and a deluge has left the place in an inch of standing water. Spooky, reflective moments can make for some great photographer, however, and this image would not have been possible but for that soggy evening.
I dropped my lens really low to the ground (camera actually hanging upside down from the center of my tripod) to get this one - as well as some confused looks from passers-by. I thought this place reminded me of a Hogwart's photograph as well, but I couldn't quite place its spooky doppelganger location.
Oh, and here's the link to the Chicago Weekly story about tWp - "High Resolution: Justin Kern's photoblog captures the serene in the city"

At Sudama's office today, I plugged a Kensington Optical Mouse into my powerbook and remapped the buttons to be gmail actions. Right click is "archive" and the bottom left and right clicks use the vi/gmail mappings for up and down. Clicking the left and right buttons simultaneously launches gmail in your default browser. Now that I have mapped mouse buttons to vi navigation keys, I feel like the cycle of UI design is complete once and for all.
Mouse and other I/O applications usually offer application level customization. In the brave new world of thin clients and web-centric applications, users will want to customize these buttons at a web-server or even page level.
