İNG:Located in the south of Çamlıhemşin District, between the valleys formed by the Fırtına and Hala streams, the plateau is located at an altitude of 2032 meters around the forest upper limit. Offering an ideal environment for trekking and resting, the plateaus have a unique civil architectural structure as well as their rich biodiversity. The plateau, which is 15 kilometers from Çamlıhemşin District, is interesting with its original architecture. Its foggy landscapes and authentic wooden houses offer fairy-tale views to the plateau. Accommodation is provided in the plateau houses that serve as pensions in the plateau.

The stunning Canadian Rocky Mountains immediately give way to farming and ranching in south western Alberta. This photo reminds me of the emblem of Alberta which depicts a blue sky, snow capped mountains and a wheat field. This photo is taken just north of Waterton Lakes National Park.

Any evening shot from Stanley Park looking at the skyline of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This is one of my favourite places. I spent a lot of time in this area growing up.

I like the turmoil in the weather as the seasons begin to change. The colours of harvest mixed with the darkness of late summer storms. Here it was such a day.

It Is White Out...

The day after a big overnight storm is the best time to get up early and get out in the snow. brave the elements and make first tracks in the deep snow. Like the postman, extreme cold, sleet and deep snow will not deter me from my quest. After an hour of walking and taking shots i return home and upload the images to my computer and then edit them in LR and Photoshop, that is when they really come to life.

Our local park never looks as good as it does after a big snow storm.

Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

Came across this old church a few weeks ago. I really liked this one. I only wish the church graveyard was closer to it to be part of the photo.

It amazes me to think that the subtle, slow moving and constant forces of nature are seemingly always at work. Take an old railway track like this one where the force of nature has bent and changed the shape of this railway track. Simply Amazing.

Red-breasted Toucan - a large toucan with a red belly, vent, and rump, a greenish bill, a white and yellow throat and breast. The upperparts are mostly black. This also is the most southern species of toucan, occuring from east central Brazil south to eastern Paraguay and northeastern Argentina. This beautiful toucan was photographed at Tapiraí - São Paulo.

The Great Horned Owl – large, powerful, and long-lived – is adapted by its anatomy, physiology, and behavior to survive in any climate but arctic-alpine regions. Equally at home in desert, grassland, suburban, and forest habitats, north to the tree line, it has a diverse prey base and the most extensive range with the most variation in nesting sites of any American owl. Its large eyes are equipped with many rods for night vision and pupils that open widely in the dark. Although its eyes do not move, flexibility in the atlanto-occipital joint enables this owl to swivel its head more than 180° and to look in any direction. Its hearing is acute, assisted by facial disc feathers that direct sound waves to its ears. Wild - at Pantanal - Brasil.

Pamukkale, which has been used as a spa since the second century BC, literally means “cotton castle” in Turkish.

The travertine features have their origins in the shifting of a fault in the valley of the Menderes river (between here and Denizli). As the fault shifted, very hot springs with a very high mineral content (notably chalk) arose at this location. Apart from the slightly radioactive minerals, the calcium and hydrogen carbonate react to create calcium carbonate (also known as travertine) and limestone. This is what gives Pamukkale its whiteness and created the pools. The Travertines of Pamukkale are a set of bizarre calcium cliff bathing pools overlooking the town of Pamukkale.

Many years ago, Greeks and Romans discovered the curative properties of the warm mineral springs that are found in Pamukkale. Predictably, these springs attracted droves of tourists to the place, but not only to seek therapeutic comforts. But also to see the magnificence of the hardened calcium bicarbonate cascading over the cliffs.

Known as the Cotton Cliffs, it is a famous and stunning calcium structure that earned a UNESCO World Heritage Site title in the 1970s.

World heritage site

Pamukkale is recognized as a World Heritage Site together with Hierapolis. Hierapolis-Pamukkale was made a World Heritage Site in 1988. It is a tourist attraction due to this status and its natural beauty.

The underground volcanic activity which causes the hot springs also forced carbon dioxide into a cave, which was called the Plutonium, which here means “place of the god Pluto”. This cave was used for religious purposes by priests of Cybele, who found ways to appear immune to the suffocating gas.

Protecting the thermal waters

The hotels built in the 1960s were demolished as they were draining the thermal waters into their swimming pools and caused damage to the terraces. The water supply to the hotels is restricted in an effort to preserve the overall site and to allow deposits to regenerate. Access to the terraces is not allowed and visitors are asked to follow the pathway.
