Gulo gulo
The Wolverine, also known as the Glutton, Carcajou, Skunk bear, or Quickhatch is the largest member of the weasel family (mustelidae).
They are about the same size as a medium sized dog, weighing between 20 and 50 lbs.
Males are considerably larger than females and some can weigh up to 70 lbs.
It is quite ferocious and extremely strong for its size and can kill prey much larger than itself.
It inhabits primarily the taiga and tundra regions of the Northern Hemisphere, with largish populations in North America and northern Asia.
As with so many animals, habitat destruction, hunting and range reduction have seen a marked reduction in numbers, so much so that the animal is now considered to be vulnerable.
Gulo is Latin for glutton.

Gluttons for punishment. An early morning hike (started at 5:30 am) up to what was going to be a push for the summit of Mt. Tenerife, but ended at Kamikaze Falls. This at the end of the hike when we were soaking wet. 3.4 miles round trip and 1400 foot elevation gain.
Ever wonder why we, as children, deposit our money into "piggy banks"? Pigs are often considered dirty, excessive, and gluttonous, yet as kids we deposit our money into them. Why not an Elephant bank, elephants are smart, careful, considerate of resources?
Truth is, most americans are pigs with their money and resources. The gluttons always need more of it. They need expensive things, nicer things. They need the name brand clothes, the top-of-the-line cell phone, the fanciest TV. They aren't careful with their things... they break them and lose them, or replace them years before they need to. Worst of all are the people who don't have the money but spend anyway... I detest those people the most. I will not be one of those people.
While hawker food is infamous for its artery-clogging qualities (think noodles fried in lard), an increasing number of stalls are catering to health-conscious and Muslim customers by using less oil and offering pork-free and vegetarian options.

The Lantern Parade graced the Historic Fourth Ward Park with a community art lantern procession of more than 400 people. The audience brought lanterns made at home and from many of the Krewe’s lantern workshops.
The Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons produces community-built lantern parades featuring giant puppets, marching bands, and floating flowers.
Well, Ms. M didn't go to the Big Apple BBQ yesterday, too, so she's not a glutton like me. We sampled 5 spots today; 4 were new to me. (I had to have Mr. Cecil's again, and it was just as awesome today.)
I must be a glutton for punishment!
Seeing not so good, very bubbly but pleased to get this. Will try to coax Microsoft ICE to construct a full disc for me later.
Does anyone else thing that more southerly spot in AR 2171 looks like a Mandelbrot fractal?

Here is first of four new pieces I will be doing for Canteen's upcoming first group show. The title of the show is "Sweet N' Low", and the opening reception will be on November 7th.
This will be my first Canadian art show. I wish I could be there for it!
