Check out the muffin - and it's gluten free! Unfortunately a little too sweet and too large really, but not a bad attempt from Waitrose's free from range.
I made masala dosa today. I had the batter already made from last week, and I just threw some potatoes on the stove today.
Toast 1 tsp mustard seeds, and some onion seeds if you have any, for 30 seconds (cover pan with a lid).
Add a generous 5 cups of peeled and diced potatoes.
Slice a chile and add it.
Add 1/4 tsp tumeric, 5 curry leaves, and 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper if you like hot food.
Add 1 cup veggie stock, cover with a lid and let cook on low for 25 minutes.
When done, add salt to taste and 2 tbsp lemon juice.
I find this recipe needs more "bitter" flavour, perhaps my curry leaves are too old.

simple syrup and a fat handful of kumquats. simmer until the kumquats have broken down, released their juices, and become fleshy. Tart, sweet as sun on a long winter's day.
I made it just like my braised beans recipes but with these modifications:
-I used 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes instead of fresh tomatoes
-I added 1 1/2 cups chopped fennel
-1 green-red sweet pepper, diced
-I only used parsnips, carrots, and potatoes for the vegetables
-I used basil instead of sage, I still added thyme and rosemary (heavy on the rosemary)
-1 seeded and diced habanero (YUM)
This is my best braised-beans yet. You think it won't work but it does!
Serve with a good fat-free, gluten-free bread!
