Globe craft projects are used in 3rd grade classrooms to illustrate Earth’s shape, show where we live, and learn about where other regions of the world are located.
We took a spontaneous drive to Globe via Colcord Road, Forest Service roads and finally 288. It was quite an experience driving the FS roads ... unpaved, narrow, rutty ... but the views were more than worth it. I did spot a couple of points to return to when ready to do some serious photography. We were surprised at how green the "desert" is here in the middle of summer. The Monsoons do have their benefits!
This globe is sitting on a table next to a lamp which is the main light source, but there was another overhead light in the room so I adjusted the levels in photoshop to get the blacks/shadows richer.
At the Groninger Museum.
While walking on the bridge, high above the exhibitionfloor, I was on eyelevel with the globe.
In most cases people travel the globe. In this case, people travel in/with the globe. This is a picture of part of the world's largest snow globe (it's two-storeys high) and one of it's inhabitants. It is at Feb Fest here in Kingston promoting Ontario tourism. Yup, that's trusty City Hall in the background.
