This is inside the northeast side of the building... check out the southwest side. I'm a little irritated that the full, uncropped version of this didn't quite work out... perhaps I'll work on it some more when I get done editing the rest of Saturday's stuff.

Using Cassini's ~1792 terrestrial globe from David Rumsey's amazing collection. And Flexify. And three ounces, five drachms of native cussedness. More could not be spared, I was grinding coffee at the same time.
That's an inch grid, there, if you were wondering.

With the S24 schedule well and truly under way, it is always interesting to see how capacity is adjusted especially as most flights will see either capacity or frequency increases.
United Airlines presence at London Heathrow is always one to keep an eye out on; for the current S24 schedule sees the carrier operating 20 daily flights, whilst the vast majority of flights are provided by High-J Boeing 767-300ERs from Chicago-O'Hare and Newark-Liberty, other flights are provided by either Boeing 777s or Boeing 787s.
For a long time, United Airlines has provided a daily flight between London Heathrow and Los Angeles; what was once operated by Boeing 777-200ERs a decade ago to Boeing 787-9s. Since last year's S23 schedule, United Airlines introduced a second daily flight (UA231/230) for the summer season only. As someone who has travelled on this flight, it was particularly popular upfront in both Premium Plus and Business. It is no surprise that United reinstated the second daily flight for the current S24 schedule.
As United reverted back to daily flights for the W23 schedule in winter, UA923/935 their long-standing flight did see capacity increase over to Boeing 787-10s from late-November 2023, the first time United has regularly scheduled Boeing 787-10s into London Heathrow since their introduction (excluding COVID-19), going back over to Boeing 787-9s on 1st May 2024.
Currently, United Airlines operates 71 Boeing 787s, which includes 12 Boeing 787-8s, 38 Boeing 787-9s and 21 Boeing 787-10s. United Airlines have 100 Boeing 787s on-order.
November One Six Zero Zero Eight is one of 21 Boeing 787-10s operated by United Airlines, delivered new to the carrier on 29th March 2019 and she is powered by 2 General Electric GEnx-1B76 engines.

This globe depicts a map which looks quite different from the current understanding of the terrestrial Earth. At first, I was led to believe it was the Gondwanaland/Laurasia - when all the continents were a single mass of land. But then Africa is separate.
A bit of research using the names of globe led me here - History of the Isle of Pines. It could be a map of an English bookkeeper George Pines who got lost in the Pacific Ocean going towards India in the 1600s.
I would be glad if someone could elucidate the real mystery behind this globe. Do let me know if you wish to take a look at other continents.
This Globe is by Nicholas Lane and dates from about 1775. It shows Captain Cook's and Captain Anson's voyages. It is nested inside a spherical case which has the star map. It marks the spot at Owhyee (Hawaii) where Cook was murdered. There is a similar or identical one in the museum at Princeton University. And other views of this one in my photostream.

Discovery Globe at Florida's Fountain of Youth.
Developed under the leadership of park owner Walter B. Fraser, the Discovery Globe attraction was a scientific breakthrough in 1959. It was touted as one the finest examples of the new emphasis on technologically advanced educational tools in the United States. The 30 foot high Globe exhibit show illustrates the routes of the explorers to and from the New World, shows the extent of the lands of La Florida, the new Universities that were established in the Americas, and the settlements and cities that the explorers founded.
The Globe Theatre, Stockton on Tees
The theatre is awaiting imminent restoration (makes a change from imminent demolition!!) so it was now or never to get in there for a sneak peak at one of the UK's most famous 'at risk' theatres..
This globe has been rendered using both the Planetary Visions Satellite Imagemap, and worldwide bathymetry data.
The Satellite Imagemap is a highly realistic texture map of the Earth's entire surface. Derived from thousands of Earth-observation satellite images, the Satellite Imagemap represents an accurate and detailed portrait of our world at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The worldwide bathymetry data represents one of the most detailed models of the global seafloor yet assembled - a unique combination of the latest satellite-derived gravity measurements with digital bathymetric charts based on more than a hundred years of ship-borne hydrographic surveys.
