Out at the airport yesterday I came across this good looking abandoned boot! What I dont understand is how you can leave home with two and return with one, surely you would notice that there was a problem when you tried walking?

Photograph taken at an altitude of Twenty six metres at 12:48pm on Friday 23rd February 2024 off St Paul's Churchyard and Queens Head Passage in Paternoster Square, the City of Westminster, London.

Once called Paternoster Row, this area was once the centre of the London publishing trade and destroyed by aerial bombardment during the Second World War Blitz. It is now the location for the London Stock Exchange and now features the re-erected 1669 Temple Bar Gate by Christopher Wren which was restored and placed here in 2004 at a cost of three million pounds. The Paternoster Square Column is a Corinthian column of Portland stone with gold leaf covered flaming copper urn that is illuminated by fibre optic lights at night.

It was designed by William Whitfield of Whitfield Partners and is also a ventilation shaft for a service road beneath the square. It stands 75 feet tall.

The purpose of this project was to create a collage that used a style similar to a Surrealist artist. I chose Rene Magritte. I really enjoy his work, especially that has always uses the same random elements, such as a boller hat, an orange or an umbrella. I created this collage using photos under Creative Commons and referenced the owners of the original photos above. I wanted it to appear that someone was looking into the sky with a magnifying glass, seeing a busy civilization with a man pondering all the city hustle and bustle. I took elements relevant to Rene Magritte's work such as fruit, a man in a boller hat, and clouds. It was created in Photoshop using layers, cropping, adjustment layers and selection tools.

After finishing some building work I put my steel toe capped boots in this old barn portal to dry out. That was four years ago and after a recent spring clean I decided to take them out of their resting place and put them where they belong, however due to public pressure I have been forced to leave them where they are as even my neighbor said he would miss them if they weren't around anymore!

On any given day during the warmer months, one can be treated to the vast array of dragonfly and damselfly species, and when looking closely, the distinct patterns and colors are prominently displayed. Being so small in stature and often on the go from plant to plant, or in wide circles over the body of water, photographing them with a high level sharpness is not that easy, but with patience and a sense of their flight and landing habits, successful shots are not impossible.

This garden, nestled amongst hills and brooks, is like the proverbial Garden of Eden. Incorporating the natural landscape and creating a truly enchanting garden around it makes this place a MUST VISIT site for anyone with a sense of appreciation for nature in a quiet way. Nothing pretentious, but so much can be seen and learned from each outing. The bucolic setting will put your heart and soul at ease, and quickly remove the stress of everyday life—at least, while you are there.

The vast collection of trees and plants is incredible, and the landscape garden planning and design is of superb presentation and care. Wildlife such as birds, insects, amphibians and reptiles can be seen regularly and the pure air of life emanates throughout this lovely terrain. The brooks and ponds are rich with activity and whether you enjoy photography or not, just being there is reward enough.

Situated in Far Hills of Somerset County of New Jersey, this hidden gem is worth the trip. Upon your first view, you will know instantly that this is a special garden, unique unto itself . . .

Givens Castle is an old Irish Castle, allegedly brought brick by brick from Ireland (I haven't read much about the lore). Also allegedly, a Ghost walks from room to room.

I don't care much about all that. It's just a beautiful building on the South Side of Chicago, and is now the Beverly Unitarian Church.

I was given a "New to me" Camera, an Olympus 35ed, and decided to shoot a roll to see if it worked. As all I have on hand at the moment is color, I went ahead and used it, then developed in black and white chemicals. The negatives were very thick, and I do not have blix so I could not bleach. My scanner managed to scan, and I adjusted to try and bring out the image.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Fifty seven metres at 09:51am on an overcast morning on Saturday 10th August 2024, off Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.

This is a female Sparrowhawk (Accipiter Nisus) of the family Accipitridae (haws and eagles). She swooped and caught a Sparrow and spent the next hour calmly devouring it in our garden and then digesting and resting on the fence as we watched in awe.

Sparrowhawks are small birds of prey with strikingly bright-yellow eyes, broad wings and yellow legs with long talons. Females are significantly bigger (by up to 25%) and are streaked with dark brown all over. Their head is also dark brown, with a slight eye stripe. Juveniles look similar to females.

Work No. 200 Half the Air in a Given Space (1998)

By Martin Creed

Work No 200, in which exactly half the air in the room is contained in balloons: ‘You experience claustrophobia and childlike lightness in about equal measure.’

[Guardian]

From

Martin Creed: What's the point of it? - a retrospective of his work, held at the Hayward Gallery January to May 2014.

A survey of Martin Creed's playful, thought-provoking art.

Over the past two and a half decades British artist Martin Creed has pursued an extraordinary path by confounding the traditional categories of art.

Winner of the 2001 Turner Prize, Creed is recognised around the world for his minimalistic approach that strips away the unnecessary, but preserves an abundance of wit, humour and surprise.

Given the weather most of us have had, it took a few days before I could photograph our new Harrier in sunshine. This is taken in early morning sunshine which offers both advantages and disadvantages. Once again , I indulged myself with several shots. This emphasises the distinctive GR3 nose.

Was recently given some 70's Tri-x to try. It had been refrigerated as far as I know all that time.

I stand developed in Rodinal for 1 hour diluted to 1-100. 20 inversions at the start and 2 more at 30 mins.

Shot at 400 ASA ( It was from the 70's)

After a bit more research I think the film may in fact be from the 80's as it is dx coded which I don't think was introduced until the early 80's. however if you know different please let me know.

I should also say that it had been unexposed all that time. I then exposed it and developed it.
