It was the intention of the Society to build their church upon ground (a quarter acre) in Wakefield-street, kindly presented by George Morphett, Esq., but the Society having received from Edward Stephens, Esq., the additional most handsome and generous donation of a quarter of an acre in Grenfell-street, nearly opposite Mr Lambert's private residence, the Committee with Mr Morphett's consent have determined to build the church upon the latter. The estimate of Mr Jones is very moderate. . . •Children without Borders
Children without Borders provides a safe and educational environment for children after school, and provides the opportunity for these children to discover their God given talent. The program targets children whose families are affected by poor housing and living conditions, drug addiction, shattered family relationships and lack of space and cultural facilities. Children without Borders emphasizes the six C’s: critical thinking, creativity, cooperation, co-existence, commitment, and courage.
Each month, each of the three branches of Children without Borders arranges its own social and cultural activities, such as picnics, sports activities, tournaments, and social visits. The FFHL pays for coaches, assistant coaches, and other activities. There are branches of Children Without Borders in Jerusalem, Gaza, Jericho, Jenin, and Bethlehem.
In 2014, FFHL provided $54,300 for 300 children to participate in Children Without Borders.
•Franciscan Family Centers
Franciscan Family Centers in Nazareth and in Bethlehem assist families in their social needs, including providing professional counseling to those Christian families who have suffered psychological trauma. The Centers also provide sponsored educational programs for children and adults. Counseling helps families to develop social skills and create new ways of solving family, adult, teenager, and children’s problems. The Family Centers also help independent businesses by providing economic and financial counseling to employees.
In 2014, the FFHL provided $75,000 to the Franciscan Family Centers to provide professional counseling and support to 110 participating families (60 families in Nazareth and 50 families in Bethlehem).
•Franciscan Boys Home – Bethlehem
Boys, 6-18 years of age, live at the Franciscan Boys Home six days a week and return to their families on Sunday. The boys come from dysfunctional families residing in Bethlehem and receive psychological and emotional assistance. The FFHL runs the home for boys in a caring place where neighborhood youth can feel the safety and nurturing needed to survive.
FFHL has hired a full time staff which includes a cook, several teachers, a child psychologist, a social worker, a housekeeper, a club supervisor, as well as maintenance and security personnel. Both a Franciscan priest and a Franciscan nun serve as Directors of the Boys Home. The boys come from many local communities including Bethlehem, Beit Sahour, and Beit Jala, and attend the local Catholic school. The costs of salaries of staff, food, maintenance of the building, and yearly school tuition are fully funded by the FFHL.
In 2014, 34 boys resided at the Franciscan Boys Home, and the FHHL provided $130,000 to fund the Boys Home.
•March for Peace for West Bank/Palestine
Each year, some 150 Christian children are bused from Jerusalem to the outskirts of Bethlehem in the West Bank. There is then a public parade with music where the children from Jerusalem bring gifts to the children of Bethlehem waiting in Manger Square in Bethlehem. In 2014, about 150 children from the Israeli side (Jerusalem) and 200 children from the West Bank (Bethlehem) participated, and the FFHL provided $15,000 to fund the annual event.
•Assistance to Franciscan Social Services Organization
The FFHL supports the Franciscan Social Services Organization in Bethlehem by paying for medicines for individuals unable to pay. In 2014, FFHL provided $25,000 to the FSSO to pay for medicines for 20 individuals.

Given the steamy windows and the lighting I found it extremely difficult to get decent shots without reflections so most of them having something. I was just fascinated; we didn't realized how vast and sprawled out Seoul is.

The Saila is a former riverbed turned street and collects all water when it rains. It also drowns Sana'anis who cannot swim. If I can I will upload a video of the Saila filled with water.
Old fashioned dimmer switch has dimmed it's last. Not being a fan of electrickery nor or it's little handmaidens of doom I thought it best to label the wires before essaying it's replacement.
It seems the whole room was once painted a somewhat daunting shade of Rectory Red.
Volex, trhe original makers of te switch are now "your total global solution for data and power". And if that doesn't put the lights out I don't know what will.
Anyway, along with Wylex, Crabtree et al it's all be subsumed by the omnipresent Siemens Group.

The CPMR’s Intermediterranean Commission (IMC) has given its full backing to key plans for a territorial alliance aimed at developing a long-term strategy to build a sustainable future for all citizens in the Mediterranean.
The ‘Mediterranean Cooperation Alliance Joint Declaration’ was signed by political representatives from 5 Mediterranean organisations - including the IMC, the Euroregion Pyrénées-Méditerranée (EPM), MedCities, Latin Arc, and the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion - at a major international seminar on ‘The Future of the Mediterranean Region after 2020’, held in Barcelona on 4 February being co-organized by the Catalan Government, the EPM and the IMC and attended by more than 200 participants.
This event and signature were performed in the broader framework of the “Mediterranean Catalonia Forum,” that focused on reinforcing the importance of the Mediterranean worldwide and the crucial role of regional cooperation in the EU and Euro-Mediterranean agenda and policies.
It was held back-to-back with the renewal of the Presidency of the Euroregion Pyrénées-Méditerranée, from the Government of Catalonia to the Balearic Islands, and the organisation of the CPMR Intermediterranean Commission Political Bureau.
The signature of the “Mediterranean Cooperation Alliance” was attended in particular by politicians of all the involved networks and will remain open for other key actors to endorse it in the future.
Its priorities, among others, are as follows:
• The demands that governing institutions – considering the post-2020 horizon and the two next programming periods – work harder towards the implementation and integration of emerging sea basin, macro-regional strategies and other connected initiatives and cooperation instruments, so as to build a common, more cohesive sustainable and co-owned Mediterranean macro-region involving all the territorial actors;
• Structuring a strong and operational multi-level and multi-stakeholder network, in order to work – together with EU and Euro-Mediterranean Institutions - in a more integrated way in the long run, to design and develop common projects and to support policies based on capitalization of results (e.g. from the Interreg MED Thematic Communities);
• Offering firm support to cooperation at political and technical levels between regional and local stakeholders in the EU, the IPA countries and non-European Mediterranean partner countries, as well as among all the components of the four helix: public and private sector, academia and non-governmental organizations/civil society.

JROTC Award Given at DAR Picnic to Anthony William Thursby on Sat. June 11, 2016. The Annual William Tuffs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held their annual summer picnic at the Willowdale Park Pavilion in Elkhart, Indiana on Saturday, June 11, 2016.At their abbreviated official meeting, they presented Anthony William Thursby with the JROTC Outstanding Recipient Award. He attended the picnic with his sister, Cassandra. The next DAR meeting is in September.As is the Chapter’s custom, they invited the Veterans from the Robert L. Miller, Sr. Veterans Center in South Bend, Indiana and the Color Guard organized by Ed Buras. Jamie and Ed Buras accompanied the Veterans to the picnic. The Color Guard extends Honors to Veterans at Funerals and participate in Parades and at other requested events. Those interested in this service, can contact Buras at the Center. DAR
Member Beth Thurston posed in front of her flag collection with Penny Bucks who made a special apron for Thurston. A delicious homemade buffet dinner complete with dessert was served, and afterward, the group played Bingo for the many white elephant prizes that had been brought by the DAR members. The remaining gifts after the game were given to the Center for those unable to attend the picnic.
Given enough time, nothing men creates will survive both the rain and the sun. We are fools to think otherwise.
George Wright was an artist who lived in Annan for many years. This sketchbook was given to a young child to draw on in the 1920’s. This wee girl is now a grandmother and has kindly allowed me to copy the book and make the images available on-line. Thankfully her mother saw the significance of the book and did not allow her to draw in the book. We all hope you enjoy looking at these lovely sketches, which include locations around Annan and in the Scottish Borders.

The Lafayette area is situated in the region known as Southwest Louisiana. Lafayette and the surrounding area is a mix of Native American, Acadian, Creole, African American, English, French and Spanish culture. The Vermilion River runs through the city. Born out of the enduring spirit of the Acadians and Creoles, Cajun and Zydeco music is as much a part of the landscape as meandering bayous and moss-draped oaks. Eltham Palace was given to Richard II by Antony Bek, Bishop of Durham in 1305 and was used as a royal residence from the 14th to the 16th centuries. The Banquet Hall was built by Edward IV in 1497, and is a Grade I listed building.
The magnificent oak roof of the great hall is an elaborate hammerbeam construction, which dates from the 1470s. It was dismantled and reassembled in 1911–14, and the hall itself was fully restored in the 1930s.

Given recent discussions, I'm not entirely sure about putting this photo in the Bristol pool. I mean, it's a photo taken in Bristol, of an outdoor view visible in Bristol, but I'll admit the subject does lie a teensy bit outside the Bristol postcode area, for example.
Is this a uniquely Bristolian view of the moon? I had to crop out a Bristolian telephone wire...

Avray Wilson trained as a biologist before becoming a painter. He was the first painter in England to apply the techniques of action painting, painting spiky linear compositions and later energetic yet, strongly disciplined, geometrically inspired paintings much based on his grasp of biology and microstructures. He lived in several places in Gloucestershire, starting at Box in 1960, where he was a friend of the Arts and Crafts designer Edward Payne, later Bisley and Gotherington before moving to France in 1977.
