Bluecoat Gin, Ginger Beer, hand-crushed ice, fresh squeezed lime juice, homemade simple syrup, and homegrown sweet mint. Served in a copper mug.
Replica whim gin for mine winding at the Beamish open air museum. These were used extensively in the coal industry across Britain until steam winding became widespread.
Cleaning up some old archives, I realized I had not posted these of the old cotton gin facility in Hutto, Texas. It has since been turned into an event center. This is one of the old gin machines.

Christmas gin. Appearances are deceptive. It is a minature bottle that was in a very varied advent calendar. Cheers!

I managed to shoehorn my 405mm Kodak Portrait Lens onto 6" lensboard (with no room to spare) last week, and I tried it out on my Calumet C-1. Apparently, the venerable old camera does not have enough bellows to focus less than 6 feet away, so I had to crop. This was a three-way test: 1. the lens on the Calumet; 2. the last of my old batch of Ortho+ which I though had been damaged in the freezer; and 3. a new set of 20th Century Camera 8x10 developing reels. The results: 1. Mentioned earlier; 2. no apparent damage; and 3. the jury is still out. The first two sheets did not go as well as I had hoped. One of them camer off of the reel, and got dinged up (this one, by the way. I cleaned it up in Photoshop), and the other did not, but they both got a line down the centerwhere the middle holder is. I don't see it in the scan, but I can see it on the emulsion side. So, I'm 1 for 3. I need more bellows, and more practice with the reels.
But, boy isn't that lens sweet? It's an old school soft focus lens from the 1940's.
