Went on the usual walk with the dog on a very dark and overcast morning, decided to sit on a bench at the turn around point, after about 5 min noticed a little kingfisher fly right past.

He decided to perch on a traffic control bollard for about 2-3 min so managed to fire of a few shots, pity it was so dark. Had to restricted the camera's ISO to 3200, which I think may have been a mistake.

One day I will get a decent shot of the feathered friend.

I donno why

Over a half century ago in an era of large farm families, it was not uncommon for there to be more kids than available beds. The words "get over" were often heard in the dark, especially on hot and humid summer nights.

Eldemar a state of the art ocean going yacht built on the foil sail technology as it gets ready for its upcoming debut.

Took the shot on a bright brilliant blue oyster of a day in Kochi which the ignormaus will call a Photoshop sky.

There is still lots of work going on before the aerofoil sails go on to the yacht.

I am a colorful kind of a photographer painter ... but when I get brave and edit for B&W, I always love it! Don't know why I hesitate ... my world just needs all the bright and glorious color I can get me thinks!

Great Egret, second version. Beautiful old Live Oak trees and Spanish Moss hanging all around ... the beauty of Central Florida on display.

Turned out to be just a smoke condition from a laundromat vent system.

Few of us who are not working with an eagle center will ever have the privilege of getting within touching distance of an eagle. If we did, one of the marvelous aspects we would inspect is their four talons on each leg as seen extended in this photo I shot last week.

Most of us have observed an eagle either carrying a good sized fish or other prey that he is taking to a seat on the other side of the restaurant to eat in peace.

Though there are special circumstances when an eagle can carry heavier prey, most scientists estimate the physical make-up of an eagle makes anything over a half dozen pounds very difficult to lift.

Scientists measure grip strength using various terms such as pounds per square inch (PSI). One of the testing instruments they use is a dynamometer.

The average hand grip strength of an adult man is measured around 70 PSI, a woman typically measures in the mid-40s (unless they were raised on a farm and milked cows).

Researchers at HawkQuest in Colorado estimate an eagle’s grip strength is at least 10 times that of the human hand which enables them to pick up prey and lock their talons into it as they fly.

It is opening, slowly but sure. Let it flow and fill. Just enjoy of what we have now and live through.

Trying to get perspective along a trail near Mills Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Get outta town! A sad announcement today from a once great heritage railway now all but struggling to keep its head above water. One I spent my early high-school years volunteering for, riding the trains from the baggage car souvenir table. The open baggage doors letting in the sounds and smells of the RS11 is something I'll remember well.

Overpaid management for a nonprofit and the township at their throats with getting things up to code in a losing battle against a local government who's made it clear they want them gone. The YDHR plans to move elsewhere but being connected to Metrolinx, the odds of most of their equipment getting out of there is low. Their slough of bad luck, covid shut downs and the director's raking in 6 figures keeping them in the red, any expensive move doesn't seem so plausible in it's current state. Only time will tell what happens, but here's to the memories it gave me.

Three male American white pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) take off from a group of around 100. I noticed these on the way back from an errand but Cedar waxwings took precedence yesterday. Lake Springfield is very low after a very dry winter and so this group was feeding together as a group. They are only migrating through on their way north. They will endure another cold front and rain today with near freezing temperatures early next week.

For the curious, "a group of pelicans is called a pod. Actually, there are many other names for pelican groupings — a pouch, a scoop, a squadron or if they are fishing as a group, a fleet." This group of three seems to fit a small squadron.

Today's warmer weather and the melting snow created thick fog across the Boston area, especially in the higher elevations of Winchester and Wright-Locke Farm. Turbo and Slim (big white goats) can be seen in their enclosure, while black goat Will is poking his head out of the hut.

Since I'll be the guide (as always, J's driving and I say left or right) I figured it would be a good time to get to know the countries better. Bill told me a lot of cool things about Australia, some of which we could already prove to be correct, and the Rough Guides always come in handy.

Looking back at the top portion of the John Haynes Ridge trail where we had climbed up from the North Prong Spur trail. You can see evidence of dust in the air, the wind was blowing through the night before and continued with gusts up to 50 mph. Trails were getting scoured of any loose dirt.

Well I thought I was looking at an angry Snoopy as I looked through the viewfinder - but then I clocked that I was looking over the fence into our garden and this is really the top of the Contorted Hazel tree in the garden with Snoopy trying to get out of all the twisted and contorted branches !!

Making a portrait from time to time, makes me feel happy.

Especially when it comes unexpected: This lady was sitting in her window, looking for fresh air, which she couldn't find in her dark and far from airy city apartment.

A leisurely stroll at Rainier. Beauty of a day...no wind, a bit of sun, compact snow...can't beat it.
