Pieter and Rita Boogaart are a Dutch couple who drive to and around Britain quite often and this is an updated version of the original. They seem to be accomplished travel authors as they also produced the title 'Curiosities of Bedfordshire', and apparently Pieter was once on Newsnight.
Oh, and Pieter is also the European Secretary of the Folly Fellowship.

Taken on the first evening of "Illuminating York" [illuminatingyork.org.uk/fringe-events/], October 2011. This was a statue in the garden of The Treasurer's House, Minster Yard, just behind York Minster itself [the top of the minster can just be seen behind the statue's head], in an exhibition called "A Ghostly Glow". This picture is more or less exactly as I took it from my camera [apart from the frame] and this is how the colours actually were.

Sol and Bertha Friedman House, also known as Toyhill (Frank Lloyd Wright, 1948-1950). Here we see Wright trying to get the circular motifs that popped up in his work of this period (including the circular site plans of Usonia) work for a residence. Take a look at the plan and judge for yourself. Either brilliant or awkward, says I. This was one of the most expensive houses in Usonia; Mr. Friedman was the owner of several bookstores and had more resources than many of the other builders, though the costs still massively overran the intended budget.

Since the RTD Security folks were doing their very best to block shots from the sidewalk directly next to 844, I decided that wandering down a bit where they wouldn't see me and shooting with a telephoto might help. Lo and behold, I really like this shot! (Though I was getting some weird flare that was a pain to fix in PP).
