With that curious open-air effect resulting from over-amplification at source to counteract dissipation into space, the strains of The Game of Love, by Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders, issued from the Tannoy. Last Saturday was the 50th anniversary of the last day of BR steam and the famous "fifteen-guinea special". I reminded myself that the song had been a pressing of 1965 and that by 1968 Fontana, the group's "leader", had left for one of those short-lived solo careers. It's curious how the mind profitlessly retains such junk information throughout life. Do we still say "naff"? I haven't heard the term for years now. It was a useful word, filling a gap in the vocabulary that would otherwise have been left unplugged. There was no other that precisely conveyed that quality of aiming for, but just missing, an effect of sophistication. But I'm not sneering, you understand, and the naffness is part of the charm of such events ...church fêtes and the like... as the Severn Valley Railway's commemorative gala. Here, visitors get ready to take their shots of Ivatt Class 4 no. 43106 as it gets ready to leave Kidderminster. I quite like the appearance of locomotives like this, with high running plates, and one almost expects that this was a BR Standard design.

If you are able to walk gracefully in stilettos and at the same time get quite tipsy, you will walk with a casual easy swagger that, at least to me, look SOOOOO sexy. Mind you, should the opposite situation be, that one not able to walk in stilettos get totally drunk at start walking in them... that look ultimately uncool and could in fact even be fairly dangerous.

Anyway it is quite seldom I get drunk and even more seldom I get really drunk. But last night I got pretty drunk. A perfect situation to make that ”sexy swagger walk”. So I (just to be sure) took a couple of shots of my favourite vodka, picked up my camera, put on some pink half difficult high heels and went for a walk.

You might say to yourself...that skirt again!! But I was drunk and just wanted to go with something I was familiar with looked good. But anyway a funny thing happened. A couple (pretty young perhaps start/mid twenty´s ) was walking home... it looked a little like ”the first date”, as the guy was returning alone from the direction they had been going. I figured he had walked her home (as any gentleman should) but I seriously doubt he had gotten laid...why? * LOL * Because he was ”waiting” for me to walk past him from afar, and even passing him he casually walked the same way, OBVIOUSLY admiring me (GOD I love that). I was not far from home, but even so he walked me to my door stealing the last glance as I walked up my stairs.

- God how I LOVE to be just as attractive as, a woman :oP

for round 54, Jennifer/DinsPhoto sent me this: I would challenge you to get out and shoot some of this wonderful winter weather! It looks like you're near Chicago...I'd love to see a sweeping landscape that illustrates the beauty and life around your home area....but no people.

i used to really enjoy shooting landscapes and particularly winter scenes. this was tough for me this time... maybe because i was trying to do something so great and i just kept comparing to past shots and i wasn't ever happy. i actually went out THREE times!! i got a few shots i liked with animals in them, but, since she said no people, i decided for no animals too...ah well...too bad i'm not out there today... it's a blizzard right now!!

on to round 55! join us!

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.

It was really a cold day, even the boats had to get together to stand against the coldness. I like the wide screen version of this pic, the boats stood in the center which made a good composition. The blue which brought up by the dispersion of light made the pic wierd but more cold.

View from the roof top of the One New Change.

One New Change is a major office and retail development in the City of London. It comprises 560,000 square feet (52,000 m2) of floor space, including 220,000 square feet (20,000 m2) of retail space and 330,000 square feet (31,000 m2) of office space and is the only large shopping centre in the City of London, the historic nucleus and modern financial centre of London. It cost £500 million to build and was completed in October 2010.

The complex is located on New Change, a road linking Cannon Street with Cheapside, in one of the areas of the City historically associated with retailing and markets. It is close to St. Paul's Cathedral. The nearest London Underground stations are St. Paul's and Mansion House.

The development's sensitive location – opposite St. Paul's Cathedral – and its modern architecture led to some controversy during its planning and construction, including criticism from Prince Charles. The architect was Jean Nouvel and the developer was Land Securities. The new eight-storey, 34 m high centre replaced an 11-storey, 40 m building constructed in the 1950s for the Bank of England, which was demolished in 2007. The complex's distinctive appearance has given it the nickname "the stealth bomber".
