We got over 60 kids on bikes this holiday season thanks to many volunteers, school teachers and administrators, and generous donations
"Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity. . . .
Be a lamp unto those who walk in darkness, and a home to the stranger. . . .
Be a breath of life to the body of humankind,
A dew to the soil of the human heart, and a fruit upon the tree of humility."
-- from Baha'i peace prayer

Good and generous Lord, You have once more brought the year full circle, through planting and growing and ripening to harvest time, and autumn.
We thank You for the sun and the wind, the rain and the dew, the minerals of the earth and all the plants that grow and all the beasts and birds of farm and field. We marvel at Your wonderful ways of bringing food from the earth for man's good.
Dear God, help us to use Your rich gifts as You want us to and teach us to share them with our neighbor when he is in need. Amen
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
from Camp Turner!!!!

Continuing the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said: You have heard it said, ‘An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth’ but I tell you, do not resist attacks from an evil person. If someone slaps you on the right check, turn to them the other cheek also. Give to anyone that asks of you and do not reject someone who asks to borrow from you.

Due to the generous donation from Mike and Monette Hopton of Fair Hope, Alabama, we also sent Jackton Wasiema, who is currently living in Nairobi, Kenya, three boxes of shoes, T-shirts, and medals. Boonies first learned about Jackton from Edit Berces, a Hungarian national Ultramarathon champion who also receives and disperses shoe shipments. Jackton and several of his athlete friends were dislocated by the civil unrest in Kenya last year. At that time, Boonies helped him out by sending shoes and clothing. Due to instability in Kenya, Jackton has been competing locally the last year and a half, winning events in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. With his proceeds, he is currently assisting 20 athletes. Here are some of the goals Jackton is helping his friends meet: keep them away from drugs and vices such as thuggery (his terminology); look out for means to help them get an education; nurture, groom and tap athletic talents; make them better people in the society; and empower them with life skills.
Please see the photos of Jackton and one of the training sessions with his runners.
Here are some highlights from Jackton’s resume:
Marathon best in France 1997 – 2:13:17
Half-marathon best in Germany 2002 – 1:01:48

"By a generous clause in her will, Ellen A. Winsor bequeathed the hilltop Victorian mansion of her parents, James and Adah Sturdy, to the town of Attleboro to be used for a general hospital.
.....On April 14, 1913, the general hospital opened its doors as a modest 15-bed facility."

The 13th Annual Benefit Dinner for Cullman Caring For Kids Food Bank was a huge success Monday night.
The Empty Bowls of Cullman County organization – with the generous assistance of countless Cullman volunteers, potters, contributors and sponsors – has distilled this nationally known program into a perennial, unique ‘must attend’ charitable event in Cullman.
Several hundred hungry guests lined up for Bobby Nolan’s & Clint Creel’s now famous gourmet chili along a delicious grilled cheese sandwich at the First United Methodist Church.
Cullman City Councilman, Coach Andy Page, was among those in attendance. Coach Page was there to support the charitable efforts and the food:
“This is really an exceptional event. There are dozens of people making this come off like clockwork behind the scenes. I am amazed how many folks came out in this weather to be here. There must be 250 people. What I really like is the food … that chili and grilled cheese hit the spot! I am thinking I should get back in line for a second round …”
Coach Page and everyone else who made the $10 donation for chili and sandwich walked away with a beautiful, hand crafted pottery bowl.
