The Gate Dates Back To The 14th Century..It Was Burnt Down In 2008..And Took Nearly Five Years To Restore And Was Reopened In 2013...

The Golden Gate bridge, arguably the most photographed object on earth. So here is another one.

Swan Dive course - textures
One of my favourite shots I took when we had snow in Feb. I used Kim Klassen's Serious Magic texture applied twice, using Overlay mode, then I imported to LightRoom and used Xmas Sweets preset on it.
Turkman Gate
Built in the late 1650s, Turkman Gate was the southern gate of the old walled city. Named after the pious Muslim saint, Hazrat Shah Turkman Bayabani whose tomb predates Shahjahanabad, Turkman Gate, located near the Ramlila Ground can today be reached by taking the Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg. This gate like the other gates of Shahjahanabad is square in plan with high arched openings. Locally known as Turkman Gate, it is too now amidst one of the densely populated areas of the capital.
A large gated community in Plano, Texas near Dallas. And this is about as close as you can get to it.

It was always an adventure to walk out the old gate at the top of the driveway. On this day our surprises were hidden in mist to emerge at the last moment to delight us. From a holiday at Loch Ruthven 2007
Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco - Mid 1950's
This "found photo" is one of 1000's that I stumbled across at an estate sale. This is a great collection of travel photos from the 1950's and 1960's from across the globe.
This gate and stone wall is right across the road from where I work. Behind it is an old garage building on a narrow strip of land between Sylvan Avenue and the Palisades Parkway. It's possibly the entrance to an estate that no longer exists.
We got this old field gate from a farm down the road but it was too nice to chop up for fire wood so I have used it as a plant display feature on my patio. The urn in the middle is slightly broken at the back but fitted the space where the cross bar makes the ledge narrow, so I tied it on with some vintage lace. Most of the plants were only just got yesterday so are still quite small. Lots of trailing lobelia and petunias. Can't wait for it all to grow! My daughter painted the pot and the wee drift wood house.
I really like how this gate was once needed, and commissioned and installed for a purpose. It's purpose has long since gone. I also like how the field it is 'gating' off is also no longer in use. An abandoned space, useful no more.
Taken at Walkerwood Reservoir, Stalybridge.
A capture during the winter of 2009. This was taken in Broek in Waterland which is slightly North East of Amsterdam.
Plots of land across the Netherlands, but especially in this area are surrounded by small drainage ditches and canals. These act as a natural barrier for livestock. All the owner has to do is to install farm gates between parcels of land to ensure his livestock do not stray. It's quite a pretty site as you drive past huge swathes of countryside only partitioned by gates with no fences to be seen.

The entrance to the castle Kronborg in Elsinore, Denmark.
It was an early spring morning and the mist from the ocean was as thick as I had ever seen it. On my way to work I took this image of the main gate to the castle. A few minutes after I had taken the photo, the fog vanished.
See a whole set of images from around the castle in this set:
