The bear was sent to me by my grandmother from East Germany when the wall still existed. The wall was destroyed in 1989. I only got to meet her once. The bear is only 5 inches in height as you can see from the picture below.
Do not touch. (Thanks to Hermione for assisting with the "model"!) Unknown species, Danum Valley, Sabah, Borneo
Kind of blurry but I just had to show off this amazingly cute kitten that I saw at another group's shelter today. What a darling!
Fuzzy raspberry sends out long shoots which touch the ground & grow roots. Very clever, very invasive!
Aspen fuzzies are starting to open.
there is a relationship between these trees and the American Goldfinch.
the Goldfinches help the blooms to open by removing the casings.
I have observed them running the pieces of the casings around their beak,
it's as if there is a 'sugary-like' coating on them.
a little culture for you peeps
and thanks for no blinking glittery glitzy graphics or invites that include them.
I've not had much time for group participation,
been outside enjoying the SUNSHINE !

I have always loved pussy willows. They are so soft. I remember playing with them as a little girl. They are extra fun because they mean that spring is coming. And I just read on Wikipedia that often they are used in Palm Sunday celebrations. How wonderful to celebrate new life!
Wild grass flowers in the morning light - fuzzy background around the fringe. These flowers thrives at the edge around some drainage dampness.

You could easily describe this as a pretty dreadful photo. However, to me, it remains one of my most remarkable.
Taken 13 years ago to this day, the fuzzy snowball in the centre of the photograph is Comet Holmes. It was taken high up just off the Macclesfield to Buxton Road at a spot where the lights of Greater Manchester are largely hidden. The Lumix bridge camera was balanced on top of the car and made a valiant attempt. It remains the only comet of which I've got a photo, though maybe I should have tried much harder when Hale-Bopp was so visible in 1997.
This 2007 pass of Comet Holmes was notable because it temporarily brightened by a factor of about half a million. It remains the largest known outburst by a comet and not surprisingly became visible to the naked eye.....though you still had to work quite hard to find it in the night sky. Not surprisingly, given the image above, highly specialist equipment would have been needed to get any photo without that unexpected extra luminosity.
