EN: We see three bridges crossing Rethe, a branch of river Elbe. To the left we see the brandnew drawbridges for rail and road. As the new railbridge is not in use yet, the tank train has to use the old lift bridge from 1934. This year may be the last for the old bridge. To the right the view follows riverbranch Reiherstieg towards downtown Hamburg.
DE: Zur Zeit sehen wir drei Brücken, die den Elbarm Rethe queren. Links sieht man die zwei brandneuen Klappbrücke von Bahn und Straße. Weil die neue Bahnbrücke noch nicht in Gebrauch ist, muss der Kesselwagenzug die alte Hubbrücke aus dem Jahr 1934 nehmen. Ihr 83. Lebensjahr könnte das letzte für die alte Bücke sein. Rechts folgt der Blick dem Elbarm Reiherstieg in Richtung Hamburger Innenstadt.

EN: In the last light of the day 664 115 hauls its freight 51086 from Prvačina to Nova Gorica. The train was standing in Prvačina for hours, since the loco had to help an opposite train at its rear on the ascend up to Štanjel. This operation was sheduled all weekdays.

DE: Im letzten Licht des Tages zieht 664 115 ihren Gz 51086 von Prvačina nach Nova Gorica. Der Zug hatte in Prvačina mehrere Stunden warten müssen, weil die Lok erstmal einem entgegen kommenden Güterzug als Schublok in die Berge helfen musste. Dieses Verfahren war damals planmäßig!

A small freight train moved some tanks from Trauen on OHE rail network towards Celle. The train was observed a bit north of Baven.
As the train came, the donkey showed his ass to the camera, there stood a car on the way and needless to say there came no horse carts at this moment. I decided to concentrate some wanted elements in one photo in an electronical way. All these things happened within two minutes. The train is the local R 9365 from Roşiori Nord to Alexandria.
EN: RB 25811 is leaving Langelsheim station towards Goslar. The eastern signalbox is staffed only, when the freight local is awaited, to all other times the eastern semaphores of Langelsheim station show "go" to both directions. The class 634 trainset is running with one class 934 coach in older "mint" livery.

DE: RB 25811 verlässt den Bahnhof Langelsheim in Richtung Goslar. Da das Wärterstellwerk an der östlichen Ausfahrt nur besetzt wird, wenn die Übergabe erwartet wird, zeigt das Esig der Gegenrichtung ansonsten ständig Hp1. In der 634 Garnitur ist noch einer der letzten mintgrünen 934 eingereiht.

EN: On the croatian DC electrified Rijeka line we observe Pu 4603 reaching Melnice halt in the lonelyness of Gorski Kotar mountains. Today the line is AC and the class 1061 Ansaldo locos out of traffic.
DE: Auf der kroatischen Gleichstromstrecke von Rijeka nach Moravice erreicht Pu 4603 den kleinen Haltepunkt Melnice in der einsamen Bergwelt des Gorski Kotar. Heute wird hier mit Wechselstrom gefahren und die 1061er sind abgestellt.

EN: Maybe I should have taken more photos in Barnetby with its semaphors, but the variety of viewpoints at Melton Ross was lowely, too. A coaltrain on its way to the North Sea coast and Immingham harbour just passed Barnetby and passes the bridge called "Knabbs Crossing" at Melton Ross.
DE: Im letzten Jahr mit Formsignalen in Barnetby hätte ich vielleicht besser dort Fotos machen sollen, aber die Vielfalt der Ausblicke auf schön freie Streckenabschnitte bei Melton Ross hielt mich dann dort fest. Ein Kohlezug strebt der Nordseeküste und dem Hafen von Immingham entgegen und hat gerade den Bahnhof von Barnetby passiert. Bei Melton Ross unterquert er die Brücke "Knabbs Crossing".

EN: Between Polycastro and Idomeni the trains follow the lonely valley of river Axios. No road and only bad trails give access to that natural paradise. We see freighttrain 80940 from Thessaloniki to the macedonian (FYROM) border at Latomio between the crossing station of Paionia and the Greek border station Idomeni.

DE: Zwischen Polykastro und Idomeni folgt die Bahnlinie dem einsamen und wildromantischen Axiostal. Keine Straße und höchstens miese Waldpisten erschließen den Zugang in dieses Naturparadies. Hier beobachten wir Zug 80940 von Thessaloniki gen Norden in Richtung Mazedonien (FYROM) bei Latomio zwischen dem Ausweichbahnhof Paionia und dem Grenzbahnhof Idomeni.

EN: On the Sicilian Circumetnea train no 17 passes a wineyard and arrives to Passopisciaro with Moio station.
DE: Auf der sizilianischen Circumetnea passiert Zug 17 ein Weingut und erreicht nun den Ort Passopisciaro mit dem Bahnhof Moio.
For a short time in 2014 there were not only the well known LKAB ore trains running on swedish Ore Line Kiruna - Narvik. Another company, Northland Resources, began to carry their iron ore from mines near the finnish border via lorry to Svappavaara and from there by train to Narvik. They used Rc and Rm locomotive tripel from Green Cargo and own waggons. Unfortunately the ore price fell deep down in 2014 and further mining grew too expensive. After a few months the traffic of Northland Resources was abandoned.
The "Northlander" empty ore train 19513 passes Tornehamn, just one line keeper house in the lonely mountains near Björkliden.

EN: In the last sunspot before arrival of the thunderstorm a local train is leaving Herrenberg station for Stuttgart. The conventual church is called "Die Glucke" (mother hen), because it is watching over the whole town like a hen over the chicklets.
DE: Im letzten Sonnenstrahl vor einem Abend voller Gewitter macht sich die Stuttgarter S1 auf den Weg von Herrenberg "in die Stadt". Als Kulisse vor den dunklen Wolken dient die Herrenberger Stiftskirche, die auch "Die Glucke" genannt wird, weil sie über die Stadt wacht wie die Henne über ihre Küken.
EN: West of the highest Bergensbane station Finse the line enters a long tunnel, the 10589m long Finsetunnel. In the tunnel the Fagernut loop / crossing station is situated. The westbound Rt 61 races out of Finsetunnel and will reach Hallingskeid station in a few minutes. Today there are no longer EMUs operating on this line. All trains are loco hauled now. Above the Exit of the tunnel you see the old line.
DE: Westlich der höchsten Bergenbahn Station Finse verschwindet die Strecke im mit 10589m längsten Tunnel der Strecke. Im Tunnel befindet sich der Ausweichbahnhof Fagernut. Noch weiter westlich kommt Rt 61 aus dem Tunnel gebrettert und wird in Kürze den Bf Hallingskeid erreichen. Heute fahren hier keine Triebzüge mehr; alle Züge sind jetzt lokbespannt. Über dem Tunnelausgang ist übrigens die alte Trasse aus der Zeit vor dem Tunnelbau zu sehen.
EN: RE 36005 is leaving Quedlinburg station on its way to Magdeburg via Halberstadt. Today the tracks on the left side of the platform are narrow gauge for the trains from Selketal railway, operated by HSB.

EN: A DB Schenker coal train nears Hellifield station with its impressive platform roof. As all passenger trains stop at the other end of the platform this part is not renewed for years.
DE: Ein DB Schenker Kohlezug nähert sich dem Bahnhof Hellifield mit seiner beeindruckenden Bahnsteigüberdachung. Da alle Personenzüge am anderen Ende des Bahnsteigs halten, wird dieser Abschnitt nicht mehr unterhalten.
