DDC "Dog in Charge"
This boulder perch looks down over a big meadow where elk and moose hang out. I always feel as if Shyla is the Queen of the mountains as she surveys her kingdom from this boulder.

As the full moon rose, it was a surprising pink color for the first couple of minutes that we could see it. I think the pink was from the pervasive wildfire smoke blanketing the west.
We've had lots of gray skies recently so I enjoyed seeing some color over the mountains at sunset today.

Persistence on hazy day over Colorado's Pawnee National Grassland is rewarded with a powerful sunset silhouetting the wind turbines of the high plains.

DDC: "Plan B"
This photo site was definitely a "Plan B" because the owners of the land where we frequently take photos were using it. The funny thing is that this site is perhaps even better than our Plan A because it includes both wildflowers and mountain views!

It was a glorious snowy day on our first day home after our desert trip.
After a few days of mountain snowfall, clear skies revealed significant snow cover over the Front Range near the Wyoming-Colorado border.
Taken at 2x optical zoom with polarizer filter over looking Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The whole twig was pretty but there's a perfect snowflake stuck to the twig in the upper right!
Dusk, Rocky Mountain Front Range, Denver, Colorado, North American Monsoon Season, Independence Day. Twelve forest fires in Colorado are throughout the state now. The evening skies are filled with particulates which continue to alter color and visibility.

DDC "Pieces" - You can see only part of me, yet it's clear that it's a dog with her human. When I glimpsed our shadows on a boulder at sunrise today, I thought the picture looked like it told the story of our life together.
The farms of eastern Colorado are graced by some gorgeous trees like the one seen here, some of them are more than a century old now.
Image notes: this one is a bit photo art, I added Orton effect in post to help create the dreamy feel.
We get some interesting weather systems in Colorado. This cloud formation was particularly interesting to me as it looked like a giant tornado sweeping over the mountains. (It wasn't)
I caught this view as I was making my down to the car. It looks as though I am working all weekend, but will try and get in some shots later.
Have a great weekend kids.
BNSF 9822 descends off the Palmer Divide closely following another southbound coal train on the single-track portion of the Joint Line.
The Exec MACs are still earning their keep powering Joint Line coal, and while they may be getting long in the tooth and overstaying their welcome as far as railfans are concerned, I prefer to catch one in the lead rather than a GEVO or a faded/pinkish H2 MAC!
Guanella Pass, Colorado.
After a longer extended colorful Fall, beautiful circular patterns and lines emerged on the forest floor as the downfall of leaves progressed. Walking through this melange of color was so peaceful, as the only sound was the ticking of falling leaves in the cool light breeze. Thanks for looking!
