Weber Spur Trail, between Bryn Mawr and the abandoned railroad bridge, LaBagh Woods, Chicago, Illinois. The Weber Spur Trail is an abandoned Union Pacific Railroad right of way. The rails are gone now, leaving a rustic trail full of interesting flora and fauna.

I got lucky with this shot, as a leaf partially blocked the flash and created this nice shadow over the frog. Harris Co, TX.

This guy was just hanging in the water. Took it right before he swam off to another shore!

Beautiful Tree Frog looking happy in his water lilly

I caught this frog while mowing my parents lawn in Humboldt County, CA.

My, what big eyes you have.

Photographed in the Oliphant Fen, near the village of Oliphant, in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario.

Taken at Vancouver Lake.

There are two this same size. Right after I got this shot they both jumped into the pond totally syncronized.

They scored a 17.00.

Maori Name: poraka

 

Order: Anura

Species: Liroria raniformis

Status: Introduced, common, resident (In New Zealand, Native to Southern Australia, imported in 1876)

Habitat: marches; swampy grounds

Food: mostly insects, larger adults sometimes small fish or skink. Tadpoles are vegetarian.

Adult up to 10 cm; this specimen was about 5-6 cm

Most active at night.

 

Location was the glass of the back door. We only see the Bell Frogs when it's raining or just after.
