Back Garden April-14

Each summer, I try to get photos of frogs. But, they weren't in the usual places this year! Finally, I found some -- right in town!

So, here are some summertime frogs -- in the nick of time, before summer ends!

This is a young grey tree frog (hyla versicolor). These frogs can be all green, all grey or a mixture of both. The little ones I've seen are mostly green. The one adult we found was ALL grey. It looked like a rock.

Another opportunity to play with the flash... should I file this under portraits?

Spring has sprung.

Captured with the Nikon 180-600 zoom lens on the Nikon Z8.

This Frog was enjoying some early spring weather this morning.

No, the photo isn't manipulated, nor did I melt a normal frog for the sake of Art. This is an "ornate horned frog." That's a rather high-class name for something that looks like a puddle with eyes.

Tenuous Link: from one rather unreal-looking frog to another.

I'm surprised how well this turned out considering it was through glass at Reptile Garden outside of Rapid City, SD

Saw this large frog just sitting in the road by my apartment. Decided to take a photo. He was a big one, I put a quarter down next to him for comparison.

I like frogs. They sit still for photographs. They even sit still when you very gently touch them to make sure they are real and not just some rubber toy.

Belfast pub

Into a Belfast pub comes Paddy Murphy, looking like he'd just been

run over by a train. His arm is in a sling, his nose is broken, his

face is cut and bruised and he's walking with a limp.

"What happened to you?" asks Sean, the bartender.

"Jamie O'Conner and me had a fight," says Paddy.

"That little shit, O'Conner," says Sean, "He couldn't do that to you,

he must have had something in his hand."

"That he did," says Paddy, "a shovel is what he had, and a terrible

lickin' he gave me with it."

"Well," says Sean, "you should have defended yourself, didn't you

have something in your hand?"

"That I did," said Paddy. "Mrs. O'Conner's breast, and a thing of

beauty it was, but useless in a fight."

***If you know what kind of frog this is, please let me know!***

Lately these little frogs have been hanging around my porch, feeding on the bugs attracked by the porch light.

Motorbike Frog (Litoria moorei) from Perth, Western Australia

This is for the Macro Mondays theme of Contrast.

My dad used to travel the world, and he would always find a way to pick up frogs from different countries for my wife's frog collection, which now numbers over 500 individual frogs...

This set features two hand-carved and hand-painted frogs he picked up in Korea. The colors help give these frogs a kind of ying-yang feel...

As always, thanks for your views, comments and faves!
