Sweet Decadence

-Anthony Mayfield-

Well, I think you could my red wine.

My sweet decadence.

Or maybe you could be my sunshine,

My moonlight.

You could be my celestial dream.

In my head is such precedence,

Such a hope sublime.

I hope that you could be my red wine.

In time,

My sweet decadence.

Not really sure how this quite fits into the image of "Transforming Travel" but number 32998 (Y998NLF) is seen here looking very scruffy with its former red London paint showing through betraying its heritage of a former London bus. Stagecoach shows that a company can take care of its vehicles but in fairness to First, the Glasgow public do treat any service buses like mobile bins..... or things to draw/etch on.

Its here doing a turn on the number 2 service. Normally I'd welcome a decker on the 2 like manna from heaven but I can only assume that Parkhead depot was suffering an Enviro ma'bob shortage as on that day I also saw a Volvo B7L (Oh dear...) and a Volvo B7RLE (Interesting) on the service also. The 2 (Baillieston/Airdrie - Faifley) is the major east-west service across the city and has in the past been treated as some sort of showcase route. It was one of the first route to be improved - if that's the right word - by First's decision to run low-floor single-deckers on an increased frequency. It was also the first route to be run 24-hours a day in an experiment following the launch of the The Overground in the late nineties although changing economic circumstances generally have seen this canned.

It was also a service which a batch or Artics were ordered for which resulted in certain bus stop and junction improvements to accommodate them by the Glasgow City Council, These Artics were then promptly transferred elsewhere. Ho-hum hoots. Then it was supposed to be the service that the Enviro 500's were to be used on but at the time any new buses for Glasgow went to Larkfield and they were never used on the service that they were intended for. It's now run by Enviro 300's although despite them being fine buses and the service running at a less than ten-minute frequency in the peak hours, the capacity of these buses can be sorely tested and found wanting. It really needs to be double-decked although whether it'll happen is debateable.

Back to 31st October 2024……..

Final day of the 2024 Summer Season Coasthopper service CH1 timetable and after an iffy start, what a day it turned out to be with wall to wall bright late October sunshine. In this shot we see Sanders North Walsham depot based MCV Evora bodied Volvo B8RLE type number 524 - BV22 HBN “Norfolk Wanderer” which is captured as it heads along the A149 Coast Road between Cley-next-the-Sea and Salthouse with the above journey. In the background we have the wide expanse of Cley Marshes and beyond, the shingle bank sea defences are just visible through the mist. The area to the left is known as Snipes Marsh. Can you spot the bike and the walker?

As in previous years, for the Winter Season from tomorrow - Friday 1st November - the Monday to Friday service CH1 timetable reverts to hourly with nine journeys each way, including an early morning short working between Wells and Sheringham. On Saturday the hourly frequency provides eight journeys each way and on Sunday the five Cromer - Wells and six Wells - Cromer journeys run to a roughly ninety minute frequency. In addition, the Monday to Saturday evening service over the Cromer - Sheringham section also comes to an end after operations this evening.

My vantage point was the steps leading to the Norfolk Ornithologists Association Walsey Hills reserve and hide, once home to a Royal Observer Corps Cold War underground monitoring post which, having opened in 1958 closed ten years later in 1968.

Lockheed Martin’s sixth Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF-6) protected communications satellite is encapsulated in its protective fairings ahead of its expected March 26 launch on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket. AEHF-6 is part of the AEHF system -- a resilient satellite constellation with global coverage and a sophisticated ground control system -- that provides global, survivable, protected communications capabilities for national leaders and tactical warfighters operating across ground, sea and air platforms. The anti-jam system also serves international allies to include Canada, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Australia. For more information, visit: www.lockheedmartin.com/aehf

The pulse of the city.

23.11.16. Probably the strangest service number in use in South Yorkshire is the SL1a, a variant of the Supertram Link service which connects Stocksbridge and Deepcar with the tram terminus at Middlewood. Departures from Middlewood are every 10 minutes, matching the tram frequency and alternate journeys operate either way round the Stocksbridge and Deepcar loop as SL1 or SL1a. This run-of-the-mill Dart is heading way from Sheffield along Manchester Road in Stocksbridge, shortly before turning left up the hillside via Hole House Lane.

An older shot of Jessica but trying out the frequency separation technique. It definitely evens out the skin and colours a bit. Here's a video I've watched a couple times to get a sense of what to do - www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWDYYk6nWqc

Apparently this is getting overused as a technique these days (fstoppers had an article about it - fstoppers.com/originals/frequency-separation-rehab-42129), but I can see it as a nice addition to the Photoshop arsenal.
