This is one of my favorites.

Made a sandwich here of old papers, pictures and dried grasses while going for a walk. Free motion stitched and added a Lacey paper border from a background page. Used a blanket stitch to finish it off.

Close up of the bib portion with the scrabble tiles I drilled to make beads .I wanted to capture the folk art quality of the Gee Bend quilts and also quilt part of the necklace so the bib portion is all pieced and free motion quilted by me.

The first step was adding tiny drops of color to the center of the feathers.

close up of the stitching and the scrabble tiles. I purposely used a contrasting thread so you could see my purposely irregular stitching, mimicking the truly handmade nature of the inspiration quilt.

And here you can see the thread spools I painted, decoupaged with fabric scraps and made into tassells with cotton crochet thread in black and white.

I've made a couple of New Year Resolutions. The first is to learn to use my camera better and take more photos. The second is to draw more and to get back into stitching. So here I'm combining the two!
