In our society self confidence is rare. We tear each other down constantly. Its like barely anyone knows how to be nice. There has been a lot of photos taken of people with their flaws, and insecurities written on them. But I didn't want to do that. I didn't want to expose her for the things she wasn't proud of. I didn't want to focus on the negative. And we as a whole have a negative outlook. I could continue to say society this and society that. But I am part of society, we are all part of the society we live in. So I was trying to break the norms. By showing that you can be strong, and beautiful. And brave to stand up in the face of negativity and stand for all the positive things you believe in. She is holding little pieces of wood to frame her face, that way you look right at her. The attention is on her. I used the composition technique "Frame it" to do this. To show her off with her strengths. And the green is a natural calming color, that makes it seem less fake. And more organic. Like it is true. Like somehow the more natural it is, the more true it is. That if she is in nature, it makes her more real. More true to herself. To the genuine kind person she really is. That genuine person we all can be, if we allow ourselves to realize our strengths and show them off.
From my first set of images with my new studio lights. Daughter was preoccupied with her texting while I made adjustments to the camera & lights. Add a touch (ok, a LOT) of Photoshop magic and voila - a quiet and contemplative moment.
I actually had photographed this hoist several years ago - I was working on a collection of the letters of the alphabet, which didn't get very far.. that is actually a task that is alot harder than you would think.. anyway. .
I thought immediately of this place when I saw the theme. I love this scene. It's very near our home, there once was an old farmhouse here as well but the house was actually moved back further into the property, leaving the barn. I've often wondered if the hoist was placed here intentionally......

The frame of an ex-ATSF SD45 is ready to head to NRE for "rebuilding". At least that's what the note said. I'm guessing just a few parts are needed...

The cottonwood is an integral part of the Southwest environment wherever there is water nearby. The Red Reefs Trail runs along Quail Creek which, at least seasonally, has enough water to fill Quail Creek Reservoir, the center piece of Quail Creek State Park, just downstream. I like to use local trees, dead or alive, to frame the red rock environment. Red Rocks National Conservation Area, Leeds, Utah.
A private Tudor manor house with a C12th moat and medieval fishponds. The gardens are open in the summer.
It was built c.1538 by Martin Hastings, courtier to Henry Fitzroy, Henry VIIIs illegitimate son. It was restored by Gerald Gosselin of Bengeo Hall in Hertfordshire in 1900.
Framed by the King Street road bridge, Adelaide Metro 'Jumbo' railcars 2103/ 2001/2101 wait to depart Gawler Central with the 1717hrs service to Adelaide on 4 March 2015.
The 2000/2100 railcars were introduced 35 years ago and 2015 is expected to be their last year of service with 11 cars forming 3 sets currently serviceable (March 2015).
They are used on Gawler line morning and evening peak services, with the occasional morning peak hour foray to Outer Harbor.
EDIT. The last were withdrawn in August 2015 and all but 5 cars scrapped in June 2016.
