Lab2014 students presented their final design explorations for Benjamin Bratton's Critical Frameworks section, "2 or 3 Things I Know About The Stack" at The California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) at UCSD. The group visited an immersive 3-D projection "CAVE", a 4K digital theater and the nanotech cleanrooms on campus, as well as The Salk Institute for Biological Studies.
Framework ring- I ended up taking many, many photos of this and am undecided as to favorites just at the moment

Marine litter is “any persistent, manufactured or processed solid material discarded, disposed of or abandoned in the marine and coastal environment” (Galgani et al. 2010). It reaches the marine environment through deliberate disposal or unintentional discharge, either at sea or from land by way of rivers, drainage systems and wind.

A 2x2 matrix classifying types of professional services activities. Intended to help distinguish true global city activities from other items. A work in progress.
This is the finished framework of the abdomen. The tail end is towards the camera.
It's built using the long Technic bricks pinned together for strength. You can see I've already installed necessary details into the supports that are needed to build the upper level of the skeleton.
The white curved panels attached at an angel will be used down both sides to give it a more organic shape, however those in the front will be hinged to move, hiding weapons underneath.
*note: It turns out this wasn't quite the finished framework. I had to add in some vertical cross pinned beams and a few other things, but none of this was modded further, just added to.
Chair, upholstered chair and table. A wood skeleton which allows different applications as regards chair and table, enabling the products to be costumized and adapted to any designs. The framework, in software production, is a support structure on which software can be organised and designed. In the same way the Framework chair is formed by a support structure in massive beech wood on which various types of designs, materials and upholstery can be adapted.
Sedia, sedia imbottita e tavolo.
The Future is Now / El futur és ara. The pavilion’s provocative proposal, in the form of a fragmented installation, seeks to criticise the effects of exacerbated consumerism and to rouse the collective consciousness. Despite the bright saturated colours and clean perfect finishes of Philippe Shangti’s works, they are envisaged as a protest and an incitement to thought. The artist boldly portrays superficiality, while building stories that have been meticulously conceived. With photography, sculpture and kitsch audio- visuals, the project is set within the framework of the metalanguage of art and brings us closer to the contemporary aesthetic of Pop art style. It is an invitation to reconsider the consumerist present which is leading us towards a precarious future that is already too near.

Aqui o aspecto da armação de uma mini-ramp completa faltando apenas "sentar" os compensados de revestimento.
Here, the aspect of a mini-ramp's framework(body), need only to put the recover's wood laminateds.
P.S:O projetista Joélcio "batman", passando por sua criação.
It looks like the SA Framework Unit will be moving into new offices in City Central, Waymouth Street, Adelaide.
Where do the design frameworks we use and promote in permaculture come from? Permaculture is a magpie discipline taking useful material from many places and often forgetting where it took it from along the way – what can we collectively re-member? What are the histories of SADIMET, OBRDIMET and others – and might knowing those histories inform our use of them now?

The lab of Adam Matzger, Chemistry Professor, in the Chemistry Building on January 23, 2014.
Matzger's group works on a number of projects, including the production of metal organic frameworks (MOFs). MOFs are known for their complex porous structures that are used in applications such as hydrogen storage, clotting prevention, drug delivery, and advanced reprocessing methods of nuclear energy.
