Marine litter is “any persistent, manufactured or processed solid material discarded, disposed of or abandoned in the marine and coastal environment” (Galgani et al. 2010). It reaches the marine environment through deliberate disposal or unintentional discharge, either at sea or from land by way of rivers, drainage systems and wind.

A 2x2 matrix classifying types of professional services activities. Intended to help distinguish true global city activities from other items. A work in progress.

This was taken in downtown Phoenix Arizona at Polk St. and Central Avenue at Civic Space Park. “The Net” as it is referred to by many locals is actually a public art project created in 2009 by artist Janet Echelman. The official name for it is ”Her Secret is Patience.” The kinetic sculpture is made from specially designed flexible netting suspended 38 feet above the ground on a framework of steel rings, cables and poles. The piece rises to an overall height of about 100 feet and spans 100 feet at the top. Specialized lighting gives the work an extraordinary glowing presence at night. Chair, upholstered chair and table. A wood skeleton which allows different applications as regards chair and table, enabling the products to be costumized and adapted to any designs. The framework, in software production, is a support structure on which software can be organised and designed. In the same way the Framework chair is formed by a support structure in massive beech wood on which various types of designs, materials and upholstery can be adapted.

Sedia, sedia imbottita e tavolo.

I've had this idea for a MOC kicking around my head for a while now, but have been lazy as hell to get started. I finally figured, well if I at least start it, then I might be compelled to finish it (as I look at 3 other WIPs on my desk covered in dust).

So I started, and was up until 2am playing around with this frame, first using technic beams, then click hinges. I like the hinges a lot, but don't know if I'll have enough to complete the project.

I've become very insterested in superyachts (you know, those playthings for the rich and obscenely wealthy - see www.wallypower.com/ for examples) - and wanted to build a luxury space yacht for our dashing protagonist.

It's my first real spacehip MOC since my DarkAges ended 2 years ago and I really want to build something half-decent. If anyone has any ideas on building the superstructure for a spaceship I'd be very interested.

Both the number and rate of non-indigenous introductions to the Mediterranean have been increasing in recent years (UNEP/ MAP 2009). Currently, about a thousand non-indigenous aquatic species have been identified in the Mediterranean Sea, with a new species being introduced roughly every ten days. About 500 of these species are well-established; many others are one-off observations (UNEP/MAP 2012). In addition, there are also terrestrial non-indigenous species that have been introduced into the coastal zone of the Mediterranean but these species have so far not been systematically monitored. Benthic, or seabed-living, animals are the most plentiful non-indigenous species in the Mediterranean. Most are molluscs, crustaceans, or sea worms (UNEP/MAP 2009). More non-indigenous species are found in the Eastern Mediterranean than in the Western Mediterranean.
