The gap between the tubes is actually not there. It shows just because there's no pressure on the top tube at the moment the picture was taken.
This is the last version of the Web Literacy Map that Mozilla released just before I left the organisation in April 2015. It was a two-year project with around 100 participants from around the world.

Delegates were welcomed by Will Chambré, Managing Director at Chambré and Editor at Policy Eye Northern Ireland, and Chair of the conference Jamie Delargy, Business broadcaster. The conference heard from keynote speakers: Richard Rodgers, Head of Energy at Department for the Economy, Jenny Pyper, Chief Executive at Utility Regulator, Declan Billington MBE, Chair of CBI Northern Ireland Energy Forum, Stephen Cross, Director and Head of Energy at Cleaver Fulton Rankin, followed by a panel discussion. There followed a panel discussion on Whole Energy System Transition with Jo Aston, Managing Director at SONI (System Operator for Northern Ireland), Dr Andrew Cripps, Regional Director, Sustainability at AECOM, Charlie Simpson, Partner and Head of Mobility 2030, Global Strategy Group at KPMG UK, Michael McKinstry, Group Chief Executive Officer at Phoenix Natural Gas. Two parallel sessions followed: the first session on Energy Consumption was Chaired by Grainia Long, Commissioner for Resilience at Belfast City Council, with panellists: Pat Austin, Director at National Energy Action (NEA) Northern Ireland, Karl Purcell, Programme Manager of Behavioural Economics Unit at Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), Professor Tom Woolley, Visiting Professor at Anglia Ruskin University, Richard Leach, Local Area Energy Planning Consultant at Energy Systems Catapult. The second session on Energy Production was Chaired by John Young, Head of Policy, Northern Ireland and Ireland, SSE, with panellists: Dara Lynott, Chief Executive at Electricity Association of Ireland (EAI), David Smith, Chief Executive at Energy Networks Association (ENA), Chris Johnston, Principal Scientist & Project Leader, Agri Environmental Technologies Unit at Agri-Food & Biosciences Institute (AFBI), Professor Neil Hewitt, Professor of Energy/Director of the Centre for Sustainable Technologies at Ulster University. Reportage from the parallel sessions and the final session on A New Strategic Energy Framework was Chaired by Eleanor McEvoy, Chair at Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Northern Ireland Energy Group. This session will present the first draft of the Statistical Framework for Measuring Sustainable Tourism (MST) under development
by the Working Group of Experts on Measuring Sustainable Tourism. The framework will support more integrated
and more sustainable management of tourism by providing a common language and organizing structure that integrates
the economic, environmental and social dimensions of sustainable tourism. In doing so, the framework will support policy
and analysis at the global, national and subnational levels. A panel of Chief Statisticians from around the world will comment
on this draft and discuss the two conditions for the framework to be truly solution-centred: relevance (whether the
framework includes the information required by users) and feasibility (how statistical solutions can be found).

We present herein the first example of metal–organic frameworks postfunctionalized with peptides. Our microwave-assisted postsynthetic modification method yields enantiopure peptides anchored inside MOF cavities. Al-MIL-101-NH2, In-MIL-68-NH2, and Zr-UiO-66-NH2 were chosen as starting platforms. A single amino acid and various oligopeptides are grafted with yields up to 60% after a 30 min microwave-assisted coupling-deprotection sequence. This allows efficient preparation of a library of functional hybrid solids for molecular recognition applications such as sensing, separation, or asymmetric catalysis, as demonstrated here for the chiral aldol reaction.

From Pentateuch to Arpanet, databases form our ethical foundation. They total to a framework by which we determine how to be nice, and how to ward off all that wishes to harm us. So a residency is a kind of safe haven, streamlined until secular/contemporary. Tomes we build churches around seem invincible, despite millions who are over it. You can’t just throw the bath water out and leave this really important baby right there, like in a shed outside for animals.
That said, even all-powerful texts are fragile in their way. Viewed from the right angle, they’ll have a lazy eye, a crooked facial feature, bad grooming, a chapter where two editors fought out their long-term grudge only to bewilder every reader. And one can hope that somewhere on this planet, reader, fan, and underwriter of the new museum wing all mean the same thing. One word says them all. It’s in this “just took shelter + who wants to meet up” safe space that personal growth is a basic guarantee. Graceful acceptance of flaws and a ceasing of self-shame for having them is yours free online, in big groups of friends, and honestly in quite a bit of scripture. I’m going to back off from that last point though before it goes over the edge.
If you think of what a church is like, versus wherever you live now, and extend that to art practice, there’s a distinction between soothing and tolerated waking lives. A church has ceilings and windows. The windows are stained, with lots of red. So you’re literally seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. Also high ceilings – so far up they come to a point – supercharge your limitless certainty you’re worth everything.
Do it. Go for it. And since we’re going there, let’s say that artists can, if they feel like it, live as texts. A group show would be several translations happening all at once. A database of truths emerging through acerbic contradiction would bubble up. It would be the kind of thing a community flooring it down the left hand path, somewhere in the middle of a dérive-on blast road trip invents by accident. A close-knit crop of interfacing aims quite often does produce objects and events we feel such zealotry to protect. We cloak the events in oratory and marinate the objects in myth.
It’s just like parties broke New York creators threw twenty years ago wherever they wouldn’t be kicked out, only to be codified as Lifestyle we now will our puritanical best to simulate. There’s a recipe for disaster in there. Good thing we kept the evil out.

International representative Kofi Annan attempted to take a breath of new life Monday into his dying peace endeavours in Syria, telling that an agreement reached with with President Bashar Assad and would talk about it soon with rebel leaders. Opposition activists aroused the death toll in the struggle to more than 17,000.
Annan, who creates the primary international plan in order to end Syria’s 16-month-old crisis, came in Iran late Monday to talk with leaders. With the ferocity in Syria which is increasing wild and diplomatic efforts bumbling, Annan has said Iran, a staunch Syrian friend, should be in a role of a solution-maker for the conflict.

Lab2014 students presented their final design explorations for Benjamin Bratton's Critical Frameworks section, "2 or 3 Things I Know About The Stack" at The California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) at UCSD. The group visited an immersive 3-D projection "CAVE", a 4K digital theater and the nanotech cleanrooms on campus, as well as The Salk Institute for Biological Studies.
