Thailand and the UN chart the next five years of partnership for sustainable development 🌏🇹🇭
📍 Bangkok | 11 November 2025: The United Nations in Thailand, led by Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey, UN Resident Coordinator, convened the Multistakeholder Consultation on the strategic direction of the draft UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2027-2031). The consultation brought together 200+ representatives from government, civil society, academia, the private sector, and development partners to help shape how the UN will support Thailand’s development priorities over the next five years.
.
Co-organized with the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), the dialogue gathered insights to ensure the new Cooperation Framework reflects Thailand’s vision: an inclusive, people-centered, and sustainable development roadmap aligned with Thailand’s 14th National Economic and Social Development Plan.
.
This forthcoming framework sharpens focus on three core priorities for an inclusive, people-centered, and sustainable future:
.
👩 Social Resilience: Strengthening social protection, education and health systems for an ageing society.
.
🌿 Green Transition: Driving a just and green economic shift.
.
️️ Effective Governance: Ensuring participatory governance that leaves no one behind.
.
Throughout the event, participants reaffirmed that this next Framework is an opportunity to deliver more than a plan -- it is a shared commitment to partnership & progress where no one is left behind.
