The gap between the tubes is actually not there. It shows just because there's no pressure on the top tube at the moment the picture was taken.

Really curious about what this used to be. Old directories indicate that there used to be a hotel, a theater, and a restaurant on this block (2xx S. Edwards, south side) but I don't know which of those, if any, this would have been part of.

Schmidt's Woods is a hidden treasure just around the corner from Mill Creek Point of the Meadowlands region of New Jersey (read below). Here, especially during migration season, many wonderful sightings can be gained by quietly walking the short trail into the woods, but one can also appreciate the subtle beauty of the low, ground level wildflowers that accentuate the landscape.
The fabulous 1,500 foot long, Secaucus Greenway is an award winning, raised boardwalk, which provides visitors with a variety of great views: area wetlands, NYC skyline, the Meadowlands Sports Complex, the Hackensack River, and spectacular sunsets. Like the majority of the wetlands here in North Jersey, the vast variety of wildlife and plants add to the appeal. Those sunset and twilight views from the boardwalk are always special treats, with wonderful backdrops and/or foregrounds. One never knows exactly what to expect when standing at the Point or strolling down the boardwalk. Barring any poor weather conditions, the magical sunset hour never ceases to touch the heart, and as an avid photographer, endless opportunities present themselves for creative images—adjusting light parameters, where to focus the gist of the framework, angles, inclusions and exclusions, etc., etc.
I've had this idea for a MOC kicking around my head for a while now, but have been lazy as hell to get started. I finally figured, well if I at least start it, then I might be compelled to finish it (as I look at 3 other WIPs on my desk covered in dust).
So I started, and was up until 2am playing around with this frame, first using technic beams, then click hinges. I like the hinges a lot, but don't know if I'll have enough to complete the project.
I've become very insterested in superyachts (you know, those playthings for the rich and obscenely wealthy - see www.wallypower.com/ for examples) - and wanted to build a luxury space yacht for our dashing protagonist.
It's my first real spacehip MOC since my DarkAges ended 2 years ago and I really want to build something half-decent. If anyone has any ideas on building the superstructure for a spaceship I'd be very interested.
Paddington - a daily photo to show progress made in constructing the new Hammersmith & City line station at Paddington. The photostream starts during the closure of the H&C station in summer 2010, which included the removal of the disused taxi rank from above the H&C eastbound platform. A new taxi deck will be incorporated into the new structure.
Preparatory works on the new Crossrail station have also commenced along Eastbourne Terrace. Once these works start in earnest, they will also be documented.
Lab2014 students presented their final design explorations for Benjamin Bratton's Critical Frameworks section, "2 or 3 Things I Know About The Stack" at The California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) at UCSD. The group visited an immersive 3-D projection "CAVE", a 4K digital theater and the nanotech cleanrooms on campus, as well as The Salk Institute for Biological Studies.
