I climbed on top of a cabinet in one of my classrooms and found this ancient, undisturbed junk tray. It has a thick layer of dust on it. Judging by the presence of chalk and the absence of dry-erase markers (yeah, those are fat Sanford highlighters) I'd say this has probably been sitting undisturbed for 15 years or more.
The beginnings of a found-object project . There's an alley outside my apartment where everyone puts their trash, so the landscape is always changing.
This was one of the pieces included in the Creeps Show at Flatcolor Gallery in Seattle for October 2010
This Piece was created out of an old air tank about ten inches long and about five inches across. It was created as a set so there is a matching one, not photographed here. Giant Oxycontin pill
Kartonnen verpakkingsmateriaal, aangetroffen in de supermarkt, zwart geverfd.
This is cardboard packing material, found in a supermarket, painted black.
Victorian or Steampunk necklace started with the beautiful antique pocket watch fob chain. It is either gold or gold-filled. Dangling from the fob is a gold-filled vintage brooch fragment with carved bone flowers in a basket motif. Half of the toggle is the T-bar that would have attached the fob chain to to gentleman's vest. The other is a l940's coin from India that is attached to a double chain of brass and blue cat's eye beads. Total chain length is about 20" and the basket measures about 1.75x1.75". This would be a beautiful bridal piece or would enhance an authentic Victorian gown--perhaps your best corset? Full Steam ahead!

a self-portrait ceramic bust with a cut-out filled with found objects. the found objects represent a "worry" the artist is consumed by.
If it wasn't for the curious architecture of houses made special with odd bits of artistic construction, and in many cases using found objects, and the bright colours on their walls, Valparíso could be just as dull as any other naval town. It would have been nice to walk around these streets and get a closer look. But the guide gave the impression that it was not safe. There was good coffee at the oddly themed Melbourne cafe, and signs warning of a tsunami risk zone. Nothing much else was happening. A little further along the coast is Viña del Mar, where there are no vineyards anymore. But there is a floral clock, yawn, and a stretch of beach where you need to 'hire' someone to mind your vehicle and if you are really lucky you won't be robbed. There are photos everywhere of how beautiful this place once was. Before the high rise.....Chileans flock here to get away from Santiago. And spoil this place too! The people of Santiago speak reverently about the Mapocho River on which their city is built. They love it so much that downtown it has been converted into a concrete lined drain and out near the airport they dump their garbage in it. But the Mapocho runs out of water and can't even raise the energy to empty into the sea to carry that garbage away. Instead it disappears into a dry sandy bed that they love so much at Viña del Mar that they use it as an informal carpark. I think a tsunami could be a blessing.
I found this in its original (but open) bag. I'm sure it came out of one of the mommie's minivans or suvees in the parking lot of my school.

This piece was made in Carmen Haase's Don't Box Me In Altered Art Attack at Shake Rag Alley in the spring of 2010. It is an anti-war statement about a woman who sent her man off to WWI. She waited but he never returned. Carmen gave us the sewing machine drawer, the spindles, the show forms, the bottle and a grab bag of goodies. I brought the arms, the wings and the image. Later at home I added the graveyard figures and the chicken (barbed) wire.
To contrast my previous photo, Found Objects in Neighborhood Day After Pre-St. Patrick's Revelry, I took a walk with the dogs and was determined to find some pretty things one can find on the ground in any Chicago neighborhood. Put them together for a still life snap.

Went to lunch a few days ago, and walked by a telephone pole that had this child's shoe stuck on it.
Finally, no snow, ice or freezing temps meant a trip to the flea market! The chandelier crystals are vintage Czech with an AB finish on the back, the rosary could be garnet, beads vary in depth of red color and faceting is different on each one. Pleased with these!
