Shanghai Walkabout 556

I need to make a point of revisiting images made in past years. This bad boy was hiding in my Found Objects collection from Shanghai. It was captured with my @getolympus e-620 with my favorite lens of all time, the Zuiko 50mm f2. Raw processed in On1 Photo RAW.

Walkin' Blues 2000

ATM receipt found in Walden, or, Life in the Woods by Henry David Thoreau. PS3048 .A1 1991

Today, First Cup turns 3.

It's already been an unusual day. Because the company van is in the shop, I got the call last night to go pick up a truck, then beans, and then to drive them up to the roaster for delivery. I had intended to make my celebratory cup at the house before I left, but time was running short and I knew the pick ups were scheduled.

By the time I arrived at Ecco, most of the morning had escaped me. I was thinking that this would be a good day to update the website (following some issues over the weekend) but the information I need was locked inside Barnett's brain and in a meeting in San Francisco. So with some time on my hands, I set about trying to unlock the Crescendo espresso from Kaffa. Following some texted instructions from Kaminsky, I tried to confine my dose to 18 grams and to pull the shots just a bit longer.

The immediate and gratifying result yielded a foamy reddish cup that sparkled with a zinging, almost orange juice sweet acidity that resolved into a weird, almost sour citus note. Not my best work considering the resolve, but a pleasing shot to hold in one's mouth. Perhaps I'm dancing about architecture a little too much. Let's call it good, which it was.

There's a story behind the corn cob, but it belongs to the realm of imagination. The only part that can be written as fact is that it was discovered in a bag of Ethiopian coffee, thankfully before it went into the roaster.

If you're muse strikes you to explain the circumstances of this arrival, I'm sure it would be entertaining to the rest of us.

Six windows, so many uses...

The inspiration was to try and use materials that surround me. It made the journey so enjoyable for me. ♥

Materials: Found objects, hand made copper rivets, silver, aluminum, recycled LA license plate and Mexican tin.

For some reason the idea of posting flyers for a charity dinner on a trash can does not strike me as a good idea.

I had a breezy wait on the next train, sustained winds during the noon hour were 45 mph with gusts of 60! One almost knocked me off my feet!

Newest of my "things found in books" series

mat board, hemp twine, raw canvas, handmade papers, rusty nail and blank journal paper inside.

The only scraps I had left. If I told you that I planned it this way, I'd be much better at what I do. The strips from A Shelf Named Billy are only about 1.25" wide.
