just completed this guy for an upcoming event. I never do a sketch before hand but in this case the client wanted to see something upfront. That's my original sketch taped up in the background...amazingly, I stayed really close to the drawing.

I think the graphics on this old battery trickle charger look cool but I still had to go ahead and muck it up with a head, arms and legs. Is nothing sacred?

His aluminum canister body is stamped "U.S. Army, 1968" and I think it was a hot food container. Springer's head is a combination of a coffee grounds basket, electric fan blades, flashlight reflector and Bakelite knob off a vintage radio. Legs are salvaged shelf brackets and the wheels are from a discarded weight machine. Springer was named for his motorcycle brake lever "tail" which I hooked up to an old carburetor spring and mounted to a galvanized wall switch face plate...say that three time fast!

Ready for some good exposure? Smile and say "Seco"! This bot can babble 'bout bokeh while at the same time test your vintage vacuum tubes...swang! Perched atop an old Seco circuit tester is a Vintage Kodak Brownie Bullet camera. The arms that adorn this dude are aluminum braces from an old golf pull-cart and the lower half is studied by industrial valve springs and a pair of antique cast iron faucet finishes...15 1/2" tall

Lunchbox Puppy

Ah, puppy love to go. Four sealed bearing wheels add the giddy-up to this little puppy''s git-along. And a vintage dome-top lunch box add unlimited carrying and storage capabilities. Don't forget fetching the paper, carrying lunch, and chewing on the furniture. Just wind up his tail and he's ready for that morning walk...no poop bag required!

Sir Lube of Can-O-Lot

The days of shivery are still alive thanks to Sir Lube! Striking a bold stance protected by his vegetable grater shield and oil can lance, our hero sports a custom helmet with hinged face guard. Know a damsel in distress?

You can find art almost anywhere, if you look hard enough. Here's the story of how I became interested in Found Object art.

You can see a selection of these doodles on my website in my Found Object Art gallery.

Collection of Marlyse Duguid

Over the years, whenever I have been near the sea and have been lucky enough to have found a pebble with a hole, I have collected it with a view to one day mounting them to make a little display of them. It turns out to be very difficult to drill a hole in a pebble without breaking it. This is the only one that survived.

50's Navy flashlight/lantern body, motorola microphone feet. you can guess the rest...right?

20 1/2" tall x 11" wide

Coleman looks kinda small in the shot but is actually 19" tall. His body is fabricated from a old Coleman camping pot/lid, pair of motorcycle levers, vintage bicycle parts, flex pipe, vintage amp gauge and a couple of copper fittings.

His feet are a pair of swiss Zyliss vice clamps.

Rusty Dragster

Aaahhhh, nothing like the smell of burnin' rubber with just a hint of a Nitro thrown in.

Well don't just stand there, don your flame suit and strap in for a couple of quick passes. Rusty's body is hand formed from an old JC Higgins bicycle tank and powered by a fully blown "six" made outta what every was laying around the workbench that day. The Big Meats in the rear are actually a set of kid's training wheels and the front came off a toy wagon. The works all done for you…just watch that Christmas tree and the low e/t's are yours for the taking.
