Ichnofossil Zoophycus sp. - Middle Jurassic (Upper Bajocian-Lower Bathonian) fine grained clastic limestones – Praia da Mareta, Sagres, Portugal
Zoophycos ichnocoenoses found in omission surfaces distributed along the “Margas e calcários detríticos com Zoophycos da Praia da Mareta” formation stratotype, from the upper Bajocian-lower Bathonian.
The constructional model for Praia da Mareta Zoophycos can be explained as an helicoid multi-spreite with logarithmic spirals, formed by U-shaped Rhizocorallium-like lamina, developed oblique and centripetally starting from a coiling axis. The spreite lamella are dominated by a micritic filling, faecal pellets devoided, very unlike the surrounding non-bioturbated sediment, which indicates mining strips activity by an endodepositivorous vermiform producer. In the Praia da Mareta sequence, the Zoophycos producers appears in large densities, certainly associated to ecological maxima, without biotic or environmental evidences of opportunistic ichnocoenoses.

Santa Maria in Trastevere ist die älteste Marienkirche der Stadt. Sie wurde 313 fertiggestellt, später vergrössert und im 12. Jh. weitgehend umgebaut, ohne jedoch den mittelalterlichen Charakter zu verlieren. Sowohl das Haupt- als auch das Querschiff besitzen prächtige vergoldete Holzdecken.

The Kingston Fossil Plant, operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority, is located at the confluence of the Clinch and Emery Rivers, tributaries of the Tennessee River, between the towns of Harriman and Kingston in Roane County, Tennessee.
The plant put 9 power generating units on line in 1955, with 5 tall and 4 short stacks. In 1976, its original stacks were taken out of service (though left standing) and replaced by a pair of 1,000.0 feet(304.8 m) tall chimneys, one for units 1–5 and one for units 6–9. To reduce sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions, all nine units use a blend of low-sulfur coal. Two scrubber shave been added to the units, further reducing emissions by up to 95 percent. This project was completed in fiscal year 2010 at a cost of about $475 million.
Of course, TVA is still dealing with the December 2008, an impoundment at the plant failed, releasing 1.1 billion gallons (4.2 million m³) of coal fly ash slurry that covered up to 300 acres (1.2 km2) of the surrounding land, damaging homes and flowing into nearby waterways.

Remains of an in situ Middle Jurassic forest - Curio Bay Petrified Forest (Waikawa, South Island, New Zealand)
The Jurassic forest at Curio Bay may have grown at polar latitudes but data are not precise enough to confirm this. At the point at which it was overwhelmed by a sheet flood of volcaniclastic material it consisted of scattered, 30 m emergent trees above a 10 m canopy. The emergent trees may have been about two hundred years old, while those forming the canopy were no more than about 50–90 years old. The forest was probably a first generation stand which colonised a sheet-flood surface. It was dominated by conifer trees, with an undergrowth which included osmundaceous ferns.
Floristically the Curio Bay forest was dominated by conifer trees bearing the Podozamites and Elatocladus type of foliage, which probably correspond, respectively, to the Araucarioxylon (probably Araucariaceae) and Mesembrioxylon types of wood (possibly Podocarpaceae). The other most numerous plants appear to have included Pentoxylon and the osmundaceous fern trunk Ashicauli.

Saint-Jean-de-la-Rivière est une commune de la Manche, dont le platier rocheux qui nous intéresse ici, est situé à proximité immédiate de la station balnéaire de Barneville-Carteret.
On peut observer à marée basse, des calcaires stromatolithiques et des archaeocyathes, d'âge Cambrien
inférieur (entre - 541 et - 514 millions d'années), ce sont les premières traces de vie organisée identifiables
en Normandie.
Les archaeocyathes sont les premiers organismes vivants constructeurs de récifs ; ils ont une morphologie de type éponge.
Il y a quelques années, j'ai recueilli en ce lieu quelques échantillons de calcaire que j'ai poli avec patience (sur une plaque de verre à l'aide de poudre d'émeri de différents calibres), en effet, sans ce travail, on observe pratiquement rien.

Distribuzione: Solo nella Sardegna di nord-ovest: Capo Falcone (Stintino),Capo Caccia (Alghero), Isola Asinara e Isola di Tavolara.
Studi recenti condotti su questa specie, hanno portato all’isolamento di un nuovo composto naturale, l’horridina, di cui si stanno studiando ancora le caratteristiche e le eventuali applicazioni nei vari campi.
Considerato molto importante da un punto di vita naturalistico, il Fiordaliso spinoso viene considerato un paleoendemita, cioè un fossile vivente essendo comparso sulla terra oltre 30 milioni di anni fa e avendo resistito per tutto questo tempo a condizioni ecologiche estremamente sfavorevoli. Spesso è inserito tra le piante a forte rischio di estinzione, proprio per l’areale limitato a poche zone della Sardegna; in realtà, la maggior parte dei territori in cui vegeta sono sottoposti a tutela ambientale e dunque si può ben sperare che sia salvo, insieme ad altre piante rare che vivono negli stessi ambienti.
Il nome specifico deriva dall’aggettivo latino “horridus” che significa irsuto, ispido e si ricollega evidentemente alla intensa spinosità della pianta.

Distribution: Only in the north-west of Sardinia : Capo Falcone ( Stintino ) , Capo Caccia ( Alghero) , Asinara Island and Isle of Tavolara.
Recent studies of this species, have led to the isolation of a new natural compound , the horridina , of which are still studying the characteristics and possible applications in various fields .
Considered to be very important from a naturalistic point of life , the cornflower is considered a thorny paleoendemita , that is a living fossil since appeared on earth over 30 million years ago and having survived all this time in extremely unfavorable ecological conditions . It is often inserted between the plants at high risk of extinction , due to the areal limited to a few areas of Sardinia , in reality , most of the territories in which it grows are subjected to environmental protection and , therefore, one can hope to be saved; along with other rare plants that live in the same environments .
The specific name is derived from the Latin " horridus " which means hairy , shaggy and obviously relates to the intense thorny of the plant.

Considera que es muy importante desde un punto de la vida naturalista , la harina de maíz se considera un paleoendemita espinoso , es un fósil viviente ya que apareció en la tierra hace más de 30 millones de años y que han sobrevivido todo este tiempo en las condiciones ecológicas extremadamente desfavorables. A menudo se inserta entre las plantas de un alto riesgo de extinción, debido a la limitada área de unas pocas áreas de Cerdeña, en la realidad, la mayor parte de los territorios en los que crece son objeto de protección del medio ambiente y , por lo tanto , uno puede esperar , será salvo; junto con otras plantas raras que viven en los mismos ambientes .
El nombre específico se deriva del " horridus " latina que significa peluda , peluda y, obviamente, se refiere a la intensa spinosità de la planta.

On the eve of the G20 Leaders' Summit, Extinction Rebellion activists used a series of unpermitted “guerrilla projections” to draw attention to the climate and health dangers of new fossil gas infrastructure. Fifteen grassroots activists beamed infrared footage of usually invisible methane leakage from Italian gas infrastructure onto the walls of the Tiber River in the heart of Rome.
Community members from nearby Civitavecchia co-led the action, criticizing the Italian government’s plans to build a new fossil gas plant in the city as they phase out coal. Methane is a greenhouse gas more than 100 times more potent than CO2 while in the atmosphere. “Natural gas” is more than 95% pure methane.
“Moving from coal to gas is like moving from unfiltered cigarettes to filtered. What our climate and communities need instead are for countries like Italy to quit building fossil fuel infrastructure entirely and start investing instead in renewable energy that supports local economies. Italy’s plans to replace the Enel coal-fired power plant in Civitavecchia with another climate-wrecking fossil fuel shows that their real interest lies in keeping Enel and Snam happy - not in reducing climate emissions,” said Neal Huddon-Cossar from XR Roma.
The case of Civitavecchia has become emblematic in Italy of the national government's climate and energy strategy that relies heavily upon the transformation of its existing coal infrastructure into fossil gas infrastructure. Of all countries in the EU, Italy is planning the largest expansion of fossil gas use in the electricity sector between 2018 and 2025.
“Investing in methane gas today means investing billions of euros that would directly harm public health and workers. The new gas plants do not create stable and lasting employment and expose local communities to serious health risks,” said Riccardo Petrarolo from No Fossil Fuels Civitavecchia.
The recent and ongoing release of infrared methane leakage images taken by the Clean Air Task Force in Europe is part of increased scepticism about EU public funding for new fossil gas infrastructure as a climate strategy.
“Methane in the atmosphere is rising at unprecedented rates. Emissions from the development and use of fossil gas are a major reason, and some research indicates increased emissions from fossil gas are the single largest cause of higher methane in the atmosphere globally over the past 10 to 15 years,” says Robert W. Howarth, PhD, global expert on methane emissions at Cornell University.

I bought this beautiful fish only to paint it, I didn't know how to cook it. The support, a black unwoven cloth, was completely wet, so when I tried to paint the reflections of light, there was unintentional drops and folds.
