This is the head of a turtle. Fascinating animals, the first turtles appeared on earth about more than 220 million years ago. So we can say that they are kind of dinosaurs - they are not all gone! Wow.

The Amami rabbit (Pentalagus Furnessi) resembles a primitive rabbit and is called a living fossil. It lives only in Amami islands, and is endangered. The rabbit has short ears and legs.

Upon night tours in Amami Oshima, Japan, Amami rabbits can be observed not only on roads but also on slopes along roads, giving photographic opportunities in more natural environment. This rabbit was eating a stem.

During night tours at a popular route in Amami Oshima, new regulations permit per a car only one observation light on which i relied for photography (no flash).

Nel quartiere Bovisa di Milano, nel 1905 l’Union des Gaz iniziò la costruzione delle nuove e imponenti «Officine», capaci di produrre 300.000 metri cubi al giorno di gas dalla distillazione del carbon fossile, che avrebbero più che raddoppiato la disponibilità di gas in rete per l’illuminazione della città.

Nel 1969 l’attività è cessata. E nel 1994 l’area è stata dismessa.

Nel 1997 emerse l’estesa contaminazione dell’area grande come cento campi da calcio. Tanto grave da essere inserita tra i siti di interesse nazionale. Da allora, da quasi vent’anni, l’immensa area è sigillata.

Nonostante i vari progetti di bonifica l'area è tutt'ora in degrado!

In the Bovisa district of Milan, in 1905 the Union des Gaz began the construction of the new and impressive "Officine", capable of producing 300,000 cubic meters per day of gas from the distillation of hard coal, which would have more than doubled the availability of gas in city lighting network.

In 1969 the business ceased. And in 1994 the area was abandoned.

In 1997, the extensive contamination of the area as large as a hundred football fields emerged. So serious as to be included among the sites of national interest. Since then, for almost twenty years, the immense area has been sealed off.

Despite the various reclamation projects, the area is still in decay!

“La Dea dei serpenti è una dea della civiltà minoica, riferibile a rituali della fecondità, figura ricorrente della scultura minoica. È spesso in maiolica, di altezze varianti dai 29,5 cm ai 38,5 cm. Sono state reperite nella camera sotterranea del tesoro del santuario centrale del palazzo di Cnosso, del medio minoico. La datazione è 1600-1580 a.C.

La statuetta ha il tipico abito a falde ricadenti, bloccato ai fianchi da un elemento a sella che sembrerebbe realizzato in stoffa più pesante. Uno stretto corpetto, che comprime e lascia scoperti i seni, questo elemento coi seni scoperti è tipico delle sacerdotesse, cinge anche la parte superiore delle braccia. Le mani della dea stringono due serpenti, abitanti della terra e portatori a volte di morte, mostrandoli all'osservatore.

È una statuina di ceramica smaltata, questa tecnica permette di variare i temi decorativi, mentre la superficie rimane brillante e luminosa.

Si è soliti considerarla un’immagine di divinità ctonia (dal greco chthon, “terra”) cioè legata al culto delle forze sotterranee e degli inferi.” (da Wikipedia)
