The other part of the pair of fork photos. Close up looks cool. Good focal point at the bottom there.
Four forks on top of each other. Shot with my Canon EOS 40D. Flash (Speedlite 420) from right above/behind. I've used the EF85mm f/1.8 on the body and held an reversed EF50mm f/1.4 in front. (stacking the lenses)
Oct. 8, 2024: Route 66 in Ash Fork, Arizona. About 400 people live in Ash Fork, once a thriving Santa Fe Railroad town, which has fallen upon hard times. In 1960, Santa Fe moved the rail line away from the community. Around 1980, I-40 bypassed Ash Fork. Major fires in 1977 and 1987 destroyed much of the downtown.
This is the cleaned up version of the other fork lightning photo.
Used paintshop to cancel out most of the fish eye lens effect as well as improving the contrast. Used an EOS1100D with a fish eye lens on a tripod. Repeatedly pressed the shutter button in the hope of catching some forked lightning.

Lycosa pseudoannulata (wolf spider) has a fork-shaped mark on the back and the abdomen has white markings. They are highly mobile and readily colonize newly prepared wetland or dryland rice fields. They prey on pests before the latter increase to damaging levels. They do not make webs but attack their prey directly. Adults feed on a range of insects pests including stem borer moths. spiderlings also attack planthopper and leafhopper nymphs. they consume 5-15 prey a day.
