"Everyone, at some point in their lives, wakes up in the middle of the night with the felling that they are all alone in the world, and that nobody loves them now and that nobody will ever love them, and that they will never have a decent night's sleep again and will spend their lives wandering blearily around a loveless landscape, hoping desperately that their circumstances will improve, but suspecting, in their heart of hearts, that they will remain unloved forever. The best thing to do in these circumstances is to wake someone else up, so that they can feel this way, too."

You're so nice and you're so smart. You're such a good friend I have to break your heart. I'll tell you that Iove you then I'll tear your world apart. Just pretend I didn't tear your world apart.

This black and white image depicts a vast expanse of sky over Rehoboth Bay on a Summer afternoon. The clouds are enormous, casting long, dark shadows over the water below. They are rendered in shades of gray, from the lightest white to the darkest black, creating a striking contrast against the sky. The clouds are billowing and roiling, with jagged edges that seem to be reaching down towards the earth. In the distance, the faint outline of the shore can be seen, a narrow strip of land that seems to be held in place by the power of the clouds.
...and what a glorious day it was!
Amanda, Jordan and I all packed into Ruby the Subaru (in Jordan's words: "A German guided Japanese chariot") and set forth to explore both coasts of this lovely island.
And happend the last time around, forboding clouds and nasty weather forcasts gave way upon our arrival, and we had a truely glorious experience on the real west coast. Here is the first batch of snippets from that great day one week ago... more to come after work tonight. :)

WE all look at the world in differing light. This day, this sky, gave me a rather forboding outlook on the day.

I was so thrilled I had my camera the day I walked out of Michaels to go have lunch with friends. I stood right in the middle of traffic (hoping no one was coming up from behind me!!) and when I loaded this onto the computer, I was surprised at how magnificent the mountains looked. We don't usually get this much snow, but a couple of weeks ago we had loads of rain (where I live in East County). Then I thought maybe I'd see what I could do to the sky for fun!! I had a cloud picture from our trip last year and dropped it in and played with various colors and blends. The bottom picture is my play. The mountains look so much different to me against that dark forboding sky!!! Just for fun, I'm not very good at this sort of thing.

The City Club on Sansome street has an extraordinary foyer. This is its ceiling. It's dark and forboding and the roof is apparently designed after the bottom of a broken Berlin drinking glass.
A forboding view of Mr. Ngaruahoe as seen from the Mangatepopo Saddle. The weather got progressive worse as we attempted the summit of Tongariro.

Spent a little while off the radar at my friends in the alps back in early Sept, a nice forboding afternoon hike.
If I recall correctly, it was rather a windy night. In any case, rather forboding out, in that thrilling way that sends a shiver down your spine and makes you smile.

Shuttleworth's De Havilland Tiger Moth, K2585, has been attractively painted into the RAF's flamboyent display colours of the 1930's, before the war turned everything dark and forboding!

Frances said it's like the temptation of woman... the shoelace is like a snake and the red is 'blates the devil' (her words, not mine) and the heel at the top right is very forboding.
I just want a title!
I'm not sure I was supposed to be in here, but it was cool, sheltered from the Spanish heat, and devoid of tourists. Not to mention wonderfully moody and oddly lit.

Rosehill Mausoleum...in this corridor comes a little light that bathes the entire part of the building. Any and all light that comes into this end of the building is natural..so there are some parts that are quite dark and a bit forboding. Next time I'll have to bring my tripod because there were areas that I wasn't able to hit because I couldn't stand still enough.

The "red floor" at Seattle's new Central Library. This is the alcove for the elevators, but it looks like something out of 1984.
