Acquedotto pont Ru Prevot. At Porossan, {near ) Italy. This aqueduct/bridge was built in 1288AD . When I visited, it was almost obscured by heavy foliage. The only way to cross was to clamber through the dark and forboding water channel. (fun)

I wanted to work with the theme of forboding in the books so I decided to play with shadows and working completely in B&W.

A Victorian dockside steam crane in Bristol, a relic of the industrial era, hence I went for the forboding sky.

This was a nasty one too. I had to stop at Wal-Mart on our way home from the park, which is where I shot this. We live in a valley west of the Cascades, in a convergence zone. We get all the rain and clouds before anyone else. (You can see the sun-breaks on the edge of the clouds - through the storm we could still see places of blue sky over other areas.) It wasn't long after I took this that the rain started pouring down. As we were driving home, a huge fork of lightning struck a few miles down the road - unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to get a shot of it.

Rose Hill Cemetery. Columbia, Tennessee. I really like this shot. It wasn't exciting at all but an edit here and an effect there and the end result is a photo which contains a certain forboding and eeriness. What lies just over the the hill?

Construction of the new water tower continues. I guess it will look a bit less forboding with the paint on it, but it still rubs me the wrong way.
This scene reminded me of the movie The Happening. I can't explain exactly why. There was a brisk wind frazling the leaves as I took the picture and it just had an ominous quality...a sense that something unknown and malignant was passing by.
Entrance tunnel from the cottage into the "Secret Nuclear Bunker" at Kelvedon Hatch. Not very secret with huge big signs telling everyone where it is :o)
Really interesting place to wander around for a few hours.
