Took a stroll under forboding skies at Gas City Campground, saw lots of wildlife out today. Storm clouds moving in towards Gas City Campground.
Mount Olivet Cemetery - Nsahville, TN.
This photograph reminded me of a song I used in the Bell Witch documentary I made last year. It was used at the point in the documentary where I took the audience to the graves of John and Lucy Bell and John Bell Jr. It was a sad moment.
This is a sad photograph. The song which seems to fit so well is *Bone Garden" by Blood Ruby. You can listen to the song here if you are so inclined.
I can throw my hands up
Pleading to the sky.
I can pound the ground
Foot and fist
Demanding why.
How could they let it end?
Never the same again.
How could they let it end?
Nothing here but pain.
Sticks and stones,
Nothing grows
In a bone garden.
Winds that scrape
Cross the plains
Of an old bargain.
Driftwood trees
Sway and creak
In their hard dust beds.
Sticks and stones,
Nothing grows
In a bone garden.
I can scream in anger;
I can cry.
But god is just as dead
In the end
As you or I.
How could they let it end?
Never the same again.
How could they let it end?
Nothing here but death.
Sticks and stones,
Nothing grows
In a bone garden.
Winds that scrape
Cross the plains
Of an old bargain.
Driftwood trees
Sway and creak
In their hard dust beds.
Sticks and stones,
Nothing grows
In a bone garden.
Calling all souls.
Never be the same.
I can throw my hands up
Pleading to the sky.
I can pound the ground
Foot and fist
Demanding why.
Is anyone there?
Is anyone there?
Calling all souls.
Sticks and stones,
Nothing grows
In a bone garden.
low forboding cloud this morning over seaton. Best seen large.. updated title after input from Libyan Soup
Located in Mittagong, the Tooth and Co brewery has been abandonded since 1981, closed due to fire damage and rising costs. Inside the forboding exterior facade, the two remaining buildings have a number of floors, several of which are difficult to reach. Colourful graffiti covers many surfaces, and some stairs and entire floors are missing. Despite this, it was a delight to explore and photograph.
The sky looking dim as the rainstorm enters my location for another April shower, which I am told should bring May flowers (and weeds and mosquitos).

The wife and I are headed home to get fat! Let the feasting begin!
Taken downtown in Kalamazoo, this Presbyterian church had some pretty sweet stonework. My 10-22mm lens did a nice job getting the forboding look and you can thank Lightroom 2 for doing the rest (Thanks Lightroom)
To my American friends: Happy Thanksgiving!

BRAIN DAMAGE
The lunatic is on the grass
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daysy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
I'll see on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me'till i'm sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band yuor'e in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
Second of my two fairies. I used Photoshop CS2 to get this effect. Almost looks a little forboding I think
Some jewelry cries out for a story to go with it don't you think?
As I created this I imagined two grandchildren snuggled with their grandmother and for the one hundredth time asking..... "Tell us the story about the necklace again Grandma". She smiled and pulled them closer. "Very well" she said.
A long time ago a family fell on hard times and their only daughter was married to a total stranger and sent far away. She travelled many days until she arrived at a dark and forboding building hidden by the forest. As she alighted from the carriage, the moon bathed the facade of the great stone house in silver,. The dark timber doors at the top of the stairs, were swung open by a shadowy figure .........

Photograph taken in Pwllheli witha compact Canon Ixus850 is. Handheld and post processing done in Lightroom and Silver Efex Pro 2 Plug-in. Preset grain of ilford delta 400 and a touch of red filter to bring out clouds and sky.
Shot last fall, and flagged for editing. Just ran it through some workflow ideas today.
Lights of Coronado beyond. The trees at night were inviting and forboding at the same time.
As Derek said, better On Black
This shrouded growing area is typical of the andalucian region of Spain. Less typical is to see them in such a state of disrepair. Perhaps another victim of the recession? It reminded me of ghostly shapes and form. Somewhat ethereal with a mysterious, forboding feel.
These five stacks sit adjacent to farm fields (to the left here) and amongst woods. I would say they are better than 6 stories tall. If I had to guess, I would say they used to make concrete here. (UPDATE: See comments from s4xton below. This was indeed a munitions plant)
Directly behind me is this building.
Outside of Coates, Minnesota.
Taken by Cory Funk.
Blackpool Transport's Millenium Car 707 carries a somewhat garish overall advertisment for Coral Island amusement centre, which, whilst striking by day, is not as effective at night, and is certainly not as eye catching as the Brush Railcoach that used to carry a scheme for the same company featuring a rather forboding skull on its front end.
The intimidating Mr Jon Davis posing for a shot in an abandoned swimming pool in an old fire-damaged school in Bradford.
Really visually interesting place, hope to revisit again soon and try some proper shots - didnt have a huge amount of time as the main reason we were there was i was asisting Jon shoot two people for an album cover.
(i'll be reverting to beautiful landscapes again tomorrow btw - we went to an amazingly beautiful snow-covered Fountains Abbey on Saturday :-)
It is two years since this tree yielded any conkers. It is suffering from the blight that is affecting so many horse chestnut trees in England, and the onset of Autumn does not make it look any better. The lowering sky was accompanied by high winds that were whipping the branches.
Ach, noch was. Rilke kriegst Du ein anderes Mal :-)
In onore del compleanno di Gerhard, ex Moonchild, il mio fotografo preferito in assoluto.

All that you touch
All that you see
All that you taste
All that you feel
All that you love
All that you hate
All you distrust
All that you save
All that you give
All that you deal
All that you buy
beg, borrow or steal
All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say
All that you eat
everyone you meet
All that you slight
everyone you fight
All that is now
All that is gone
All that's to come
and everything under the sun is in tune
but the sun is eclipsed by the moon.
(There is no dark side of the moon really...)

Some people try to interprete the visual language of an artist in hindsight. Especially sense of forboding of world-shaking events is rather popular. We will never know why Kurt Reuber, the artist in question, not only wrote from left to right but also from top to bottom. He died as a prisoner of war in Russia in 1944.
For me, the falling capitals symbolize the Fall of Stalingrad in 1943.

An apocalypse shoot a friend of mine organised on the coast. It was bloody hot that day, but we got some good shots.

Looking out into one of the many secure yards at Alcatraz. As old and decaying as it is, the place maintains a real sense of forboding. The night tour just adds to it.
This plant is a type of cycad. Cycads go back some 250 million years, definitely prehistoric. I think that is interesting, and here they are today, still thriving! This shot is looking in toward the center. They are quite huge and a bit forboding with those sharp points on the leaves. Hugs and thanks for viewing! =o)

Another rather forboding view of the garden. I liked the backlighting here with the pinwheel effect.
Seemingly the gates to hell, in the caverns below Forbidden Corner in the Yorkshire Dales - an amazingly fun day out :-)

Another piece for a non-dA photo assignment. I've done a bit of post processing using Adobe Lightroom to get the mood the way I wanted it.
This is actually a hallway in the complex where I live at Daegu University, South Korea. It really isn't that dark and spooky in real life! ;)
