Folding camera for rollfilm size 620 , made in USA between 1937-1940 . Compared with the earlier Junior Six-20 , this model has - apart from a different lens/shutter combination - a baseboard release bar at the front .
Townsend Fold signal box on the Down side of the line by Holme Lane level crossing at Rawtenstall. Saturday 25th September 1982
Townsend Fold signal box is a British Railways London Midland Region type 15 design fitted with a 10 lever London Midland Region Standard frame that opened as a non block post controlling the adjacent level crossing on 29th March 1959, replacing an 1878 built 22 lever Saxby & Farmer type 9 design signal box located on the opposite side of the line. The signal box was operated by a travelling gatekeeper from 5th June 1972 until 5th December 1980 when traffic ceased. The line between Heywood Ground Frame and Rawtenstall was officially closed on 8th April 1981 although a series of specials were operated on 28th March 1982. Ownership passed to the East Lancashire Railway who reopened it as a non block post on 29th March 1991 and renamed it Townsend Fold Level Crossing in 2003
The signal box carries a British Railways London Midland Region maroon enamel nameplate

More fascinating geological features from Morocco. Those layers and folds! Unbelievable. I could go on an on with more photos. And indeed will for quite a while 😂
This was at the beginning of a beautiful canyon on whose bottom the route followed along. This section would have been one of the most difficult and frustrating with the piste following a river bed. And with stones large and loose, progress would be very slow and likely a hike for several kilometers. Well - progress in another meaning doesn’t halt in Morocco either. And so at least the beginning of that section was this fine graded planum where most probably in the near future the same smooth tarmac will be found like already a few kilometres before. A bit later then the route would be indeed right in the river bed. Very intriguing. As any conection to the settlements there must take place over some mountain paths when there will be a time with water flowing there.

Weitere faszinierende geologische Formen aus Marokko. Diese Schichten und Faltungen! Unglaublich. Ich könnte mehr und mehr davon posten. Und in der Tat, das werde ich auch für eine gute Weile. ;-)
Dies war am Beginn einer sehr schönen Schlucht auf deren Boden die Route entlang führte. Dieser Abschnitt hätte einer der schwierigsten und frustrierensten des ganzen Rennens sein können. Mit der Route entlang eines Flussbettes und Steinen groß und locker. Vorankommen wäre extrem schwierig und Schieben des Rades für mehrere Kilometer das Wahrscheinliche. Nun - Vorankommen bzw. Fortschritt macht auch in einem ganz anderen Sinn in Marokko nicht halt. Und so war zumindest der Anfang dieses Abschnittes in Form dieses feinen Schotterplanums sehr gut zu befahren. In naher Zukunft wird hier wohl genau so glatter Asphalt liegen wie schon ein paar Kilometer vorher. Etwas später hörte dieses Planum aber auf und die Route verlief dann tatsächlich mitten durch das Flussbett. Sehr faszininerend. Denn auch jegliche Verbindung zu den Siedlungen dort muss dann wohl über Bergpfade laufen, wenn tatsächlich einmal Wasser im Fluss läuft.

Reflections in the windows of a modern Tulane University building in New Orleans, LA; the building is constructed with accordion-like folds, and is the source of monochrome abstracts posted previously to my photostream.
First finish of 2011 - about 5' x 7', friendship star quilt with cheddar inner border and navy border and binding. Quilted all over with a flame pattern.
I held a series of three sessions at KPF NY demonstrating severals ways to transform a flat single sheet of paper into a complex form. I demonstrated folds that used both standard origami techniques (square paper, no cutting) and more modern approaches (laser-cut and -scored curves). The square forms date back to the Bauhaus movement and I was inspired by the work I did for Erik and Marty Demaine when choosing the shapes of the curved forms. Special thanks also to Alex Soijka who helped with the video.

Whenever I redo a doll's hair I always replace the entire back hairline of the head first and work my way forwards & up, which gives your unfortunate Barbie the Larry Fine look when you're halfway through, but it helps you keep everything nice and even, and it also makes it easier to arrange parts in the hair (which was not the case here, but I thought I'd mention it).

It was really hard to come up with an idea of folding caterpillar track and even the afterward folding job was quite exhausting..
Anyway, I'm currently trying to make my new secret models like this one, into a computer program-drawn diagrams. I'll be happy if anyone could draw it for me.. :-)
a 1:1 mockup of a faceted metal ceiling system. this 1.6m x 1.6m panel is fabricated entirely out of 1/16" thick stainless steel and weighs around 90 kilos. the module is comprised of 8 continuous folded strips, laser cut from flat sheets, welded together, with a metallic golden lacquer finish. the primary structural ribs are laser cut following the angles of the folded facets providing a seem for welding the strips together, with 16 sub-frames for lateral stability.
