It looks like it was easier to make the skirt than to photograph it properly on me with November light...

So I used black velvet for this skirt, and some tartan fabric for the lining.

The pleats are very interesting, and I will definitaly make another skirt with this pattern next summer.

You can find the pattern here: www.interweavestore.com/Sewing/Patterns/Asymmetrical-Fold...

How many times can you fold a piece of paper? The answer is much less than you think. Physical limitations apply to everything and while it may appear that a process can go on forever, there is a limit to how small an object can become.

I managed to fold a square piece of paper 6 times but Britney Gallivan is famous for doing this 12 times and so confounding mathamaticians. She also produced an equation to show why it worked.

I have provided a translation of some of the tags I use on Flickr which you may find interesting www.flickr.com/photos/flights_of_fancy/6973610225/

Students learned about the design principle of visual rhythm, then designed their own patterns, which were applied to a sheet of paper. The paper was then folded and glued into this three-dimensional, geometric form.

Well, It's finished. I had been wanting to refold this model for a long time, but it was only until this summer that I finally pulled through. This model is hard, no doubts about that. Even the scaleshaping requires a lot of patience and skill to do nicely, and the final shaping is the part that makes or breaks a Ryu Jin. Even though I haven't shaped it perfectly, I think I've done a decent job.

I decided not to go with the half-cp method, mainly because I always enjoy challenges (not to say this model isn't already challenging enough :P). Once the legs were collapsed, it wasn't too difficult to work with though. Speaking of the legs, they were definitely the biggest challenge for me to shape (after the head). There's still lots to work on, but I think I'm going to leave it like this.

And that's it! I don't think I'll be folding this model again for a while. Comments are always appreciated.

Nothing even vaguely fancy today - though there was a fair bit of work in it. My daughter got for Christmas from her Granny and Papa, a book of folding paper Star Wars models. She went straight for the tie Fighter, which I subsequently found out bore the legend: "difficulty: advanced". Anyway... Started yesterday, and finished off after dinner this evening, with Miss 8 doing what she could, here's the finished product.

9. Now you are ready fold and press the seam allowance. Start with any points and corners. Fold the edge up straight against the point. Press with a dry iron. Now fold the sides up over the point, forming a miter. Press.
