Big Meadows - Shenandoah National Park, Virginia
While playing around with the tilt shifting technique in Photoshop, I erroneously produced this instead on one of my MANY attempts - but I kinda like it - so what the heck, I posted it :-)
I have always been drawn to this old dead tree, ever since my very 1st visit to Big Meadows. It still stands despite its annual battles against the weather elements. Many generations have viewed and photographed this grand old meadow icon.
THANKS FOR VIEWING
Late afternoon long exposure of the fog rolling in. I've really enjoyed going through my shots from last night. A part of me wishes that the fog didn't swallow up everything so quickly, but considering how many times I've been skunked, I'll take what I can get.
Long mid-afternoon exposure using the Lee Big Stopper. (color cast fixed in post)
Ice cold fog is the winter reality for most in the North. There are two ways to escape.
1) To take an airplane to go far South.
or
2) To go upwards, beyond fog. It's wonderful. Often, its warmer than under the fog and the colours are brigther than during other seasons (less damp)
The fog was mesmerizing and evoked quite the mood, although what I enjoyed of this photograph is the contrast of the elements with the fog.
