Had to take this one after I went to see the hobbit yesterday

A small mushroom on a moss covered tree. I used focus stacking of 27 images combined to get the entire mushroom in focus.

My second attempt at focus stacking. Twelve photos this time. I think it looks better, but still see room for much improvement.

 

I'm manually adjusting the focus for each shot. It ends up requiring some guesswork. I can see where a focus rail could be a lot more accurate.

My first attempt at focus stacking. Twelve images, each with a slightly different plane of focus, were combined to produce a single image. The software used was Helicon Focus. Best viewed in original size.

Empilhamento de foco combinando 49 exposições com ampliação de 4x(4:1), combinadas com o Helicon Focus.

  

Enquanto procurava por insetos para fotografar acabei encontrando esta abelha caída ao solo, aproveitei para fazer o empilhamento de foco em estúdio. Para iluminação usei 2 fontes de luz pelas laterais com uma tenda difusora ao redor do inseto.

  

Sobre: Abelha é a denominação comum de vários insetos pertencentes à ordem Hymenoptera, da superfamília Apoidea, subgrupo Anthophila, aparentados das vespas e formigas.

I put this guy into a vial in the fridge. Once cold, I took a 7 photo focus stack through the 4x lomo objective.

 

He didn't move, but he did twitch. I had to manually align his leg joint positions in photoshop before the stack.

My first attempt at focus stacking! The lighting is not optimal, but I think the results are pretty good for my first time.

I found this dragonfly dead and thought it would make a good practice subject.

A fun morning at Longwood Gardens with my macro lens and tripod. This is a two image stack using helicon focus.

This little guy seems to have made quite a mess on this leaf- body length 1.8mm
