Pollen on a nasturtium anther. 26 images shot with Canon 50D and MP-E 65mm at 5x using 60 micron steps with a Cognisys StackShot and stacked in Zerene Stacker DMap. Front lit with MT-24EX @ 1/16 with diffusion gels, backlit with Jansjö LEDs.

Materials from a school project in Evesham. Photos taken by students through the town and along the river were merged using the Focus Stacking tools in Photoshop. They were then printed out for use in a giant collage.

Wanted to try macro photography so picked up a reversal ring and mounted a 50mm lens on it. I know the pic isn't great but it's a beginning:-)

These images where created by fairly new method, called FOCUS-STACKING. Each image is basically a "stack" of couple dozen (or hundred) images photographed with different focal distance where all focused areas are combined into one image.

I took 13 photos (using a tripod) of this scale model.

With each photo I focused a tiny bit further away

Then I merged all 13 photos in Photoshop, so the scale model is sharp from back to front.

Got it almost right this time but the lower "petal" is unfortunately slightly out of focus so another go is on the cards.

It's 2 years since this orchid last flowered.

This is an 9 image focus stack to improve the depth of field. 100mm lens, f4, iso 100, 1/125 sec exposure.

My very first photograph using the technique of focus stacking.

The upper image is a single exposure taken at f4 focussed just on the lens cap. I deliberately used a wide aperture so that only the lens cap would be in focus. The lower image is comprised of 6 exposures at f4 focussed at different places from the lens cap to the hot shoe on top of the camera and then combined together in Photoshop.
