Flint cross, made with Vanport Flint ("Flint Ridge Flint"), from the Middle Pennsylvanian of Flint Ridge, Ohio, USA.
Flint is a cryptocrystalline, quartzose sedimentary rock - its geologic name is "chert". A famous occurrence of high-quality, colorful flint is Flint Ridge, Ohio. Prehistoric American Indians quarried this material to make arrowheads, spearpoints, and other tools. Flint is the "official state gemstone" of Ohio.
All of the greenish-colored flint is from the Roy Miller Quarries.

Flint Castle (Welsh: Castell y Fflint) located in Flint, Flintshire, was the first of a series of castles built during King Edward I's campaign to conquer Wales.
The site was chosen for its strategic position in North East Wales. The castle was only one day's march from Chester, supplies could be brought along the River Dee and there was by a ford across to England that could be used at low tide.
Gator! Spotted near the end of the RiverWalk in a swampy area along the Flint River. I knew alligators lived in south Georgia, but I didn't realized they were in Albany.
Clothes and shoes! Sadly his eyes nor his wig have arrived yet. The Fairyland eyes aren't to bad but I love glass eyes so much more... he's still deadly cute though :-)

This railroad bridge crosses the Flint river at the north end of Turtle Park in Albany, GA. The low water level allowed me to get some angles that I hadn't before. I think this is my favorite from this trip. www.bensellars.com/index.html
