An early morning trail run up Mt Remarkable in the My Remarkable National Park, South Australia was rewarded with a magnificent sunrise.
It pays to be crazy enough to run up a mountain sometimes.

Just tidying up the last of the Flinders Ranges photos. The moon over the Flinders Ranges. Such an arid area, yet still displaying a palette of beautiful colours.
Moving on from my previous post, this is the road just 20 or so kilometres out of Blinman on the way to Parachilna in the Flinders Ranges. It is usually just dry and dusty, but this was taken after a particularly wet winter and there were lots of patches of localised flooding.
At the time, I was just in a new two wheel drive hatchback much more suited to city driving and this crossing stopped me! Although it didn't look all that threatening at first glance and I might have managed to get through, for me, there were too many large hidden rocks just under the surface and the ground either side of the creek was extremely soft. Just minutes prior to this, a truck had to be dug out and many of those in four wheel drives were a little wary. So, although I had gotten through a few minor creek crossings to get this far, I chickened out at this one and turned back to Blinman, hoping to return one day in a more suitable car.
These are all real cars - no models this time! ; )

Adelaide Arcade, which opened in 1885, is one of Australia's oldest indoor shopping arcades. Known for its stunning Victorian architecture and glass-roofed walkway, it has remained an iconic landmark in the heart of Adelaide. The arcade is home to a unique mix of specialty shops, fashion boutiques, jewelers, and cafes, many of which have been there for decades. Beyond its commercial value, the arcade is famous for its ghost stories, particularly that of a former caretaker, making it an intriguing tourist attraction. Today, it continues to be a vibrant place that combines history, shopping, and a touch of mystery.
We are just back from a great trip to the Flinders Ranges and I thought I'd start with an iconic view point from the Razorback lookout. Hopefully I managed to do something a littler different to usual by painting in light with my own car during several long exposures! More to come from the area of course :)
Another drone image of the 4WD track I was on which you can just see on the LHS.
Lots of kangaroos and wallabies sheltering under the trees with a few wild goats thrown in and maybe the odd sheep.
This is taken just at the end of winter which is why there is some greenery.

A surprise for us at Brachina Gorge was to see in the shadows a whole lot of previously endangered rock wallabies. It turns out this is some kind of protected reserve for them and there are actually hundreds in the area. Later in the trip we found more in rarer country. This is a young one being active.
The environment at Sky Willow Springs station from Stokes lookout is a truly amazing experience during sunset lighting. I spent much of my time shooting at longer focal lengths during my trip to the Flinders Ranges earlier this year!
THE PHOTOGRAPH was shot on a morning flight over the Flinders Ranges National Park in South Australia.
THE “DREAMING” is a European term used to describe the way in which traditional Australian Aboriginal peoples understand the cosmos and their spiritual connection to it. Its stories tell of how, in the creation time, the mythic Ancestral Spirits came out of the ground, the sea or the sky and travelled across the unformed world. As they went they made the various landforms and laid down the laws of social and spiritual practice. They created the mountains, rivers, flora, fauna, rocks, waterholes and everything else that is part of the present world. Once the Ancestors finished their work they did not disappear but transformed themselves into the very trees, rivers, mountains and waterholes they had made. In this way their power remains present to current generations and the sites they inhabit are sacred. The Dreaming is never-ending, linking the past and the present, the people and the land.

A panoramic view of the rugged outline of Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia.
Taken back in 2014, this is the view from Stokes Hill Lookout towards the wonderful outline of Wilpena Pound on the horizon.
This was also my first trip away with the 28-105 lens I had just bought on eBay for the bargain price of $50-00! A good lens when stopped down to at least f8 or more, but not too flash wide open. This was its sweet spot at about f10.

This photo was taken at a creek crossing near the road to the Aroona Ruins in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia. The creek at this spot held water from a nearby spring and it is visited by a variety of wildlife.
The emu is a native of Australia and ranges over most of the mainland. It is a flightless bird and the second largest living bird after the ostrich. It can reach a height of 6.2 feet (1.9 metres) and have been known to attack humans.
The emu forages on a variety of plants and insects and is able to go weeks without eating. They drink infrequently but take in copious amounts of water when the opportunity arises. They can travel great distances and are able to sprint at speeds of 30 mph (50 km/h)
It is common for the females to fight over a mate. The male incubates the eggs and the young are nurtured by their father and this emu has six young - the group of three, a fourth just to the left of the group and almost hidden by the grass, a fifth in front of the post and the sixth just out of frame on the left.
The sun just caught a small band of rain nicely in this view taken from Port Germein looking south towards Port Pirie (lost in the rain) in South Australia with the lower Flinders Ranges on the left.

While shooting dawn above the hills of Angorichina, I noticed a distant tree light up along the ridge of a distant hill. The Flinders Ranges is full of these scenes at the ends of the day!
The distinctive ruins of the Appealinna community's dry stone buildings. A combined settlement of farmers and copper miners spread along a river bed among impressive River Redgums.
