Hahndorf, located in the Adelaide Hills, Australia, is the oldest surviving German settlement in the country. Founded in 1839 by Lutheran immigrants from Prussia, the town is named after the captain of the ship that brought them, Dirk Meinerts Hahn. Its traditional German architecture and European atmosphere make it a popular tourist destination. The main street is lined with restaurants, bakeries, and shops offering German specialties. Highlights include the Beerenberg Farm, where visitors can pick strawberries, and the home of renowned artist Hans Heysen. Hahndorf is also known for its cultural festivals and vibrant arts scene. It’s a place that blends history, culture, and nature in a picturesque setting.

Terowie Post Office - Terowie is an aboriginal word meaning hidden waterhole. For some reason I thought it was the name of a town in Cornwall. ( from a photo on a trip in 2014) perspective all out of wack but I quite like this little sketch.

In Mid Northern South Australia near Hawker.

A new crop and higher resolution edit of an old favourite panorama taken on the northeast side of Wilpena Pound in South Australia's Flinders Ranges. It had been a lovely wet winter which gave the whole area the feel of some well maintained parklands. The beautiful greens are not artificially saturated in any way. These wonderful colours are what I was lucky to see on the day. The air was exceptionally clear.

A stitched panorama taken with a Pentax K200D - unsure of the stitching program, but possibly PT GUI.

The road has been improved heaps since our last visit here in 1990 but the view is still spectacular.

The Flinders Ranges are the largest mountain range in South Australia, which starts about 200 km (125 mi) north of Adelaide. The discontinuous ranges stretch for over 430 km (265 mi) from Port Pirie to Lake Callabonna.

Its most characteristic landmark is Wilpena Pound, a large, sickle-shaped, natural amphitheatre that covers 80 km2 (31 sq mi) and contains the range's highest peak, St Mary Peak (1,171 m (3,842 ft), which adjoins the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park.

Looking back along the track I was on towards the Flinders Ranges. Taken at the end of winter and is still quite barren.

I don't think it will keep the rabbits out anymore.

In South Australia. The Cazneaux Tree. An Eucalyptus camaldulensis or river red gum that was made famous by the photographer Harold Cazneaux. It is located in the locality of Flinders Ranges near Wilpena Pound.

It had rained heavily the previous night hence the dark reddish brown colour of the damp soil.

More creek bed walking in the Flinders Ranges.

An old ruin in South Australia's mid north near the Flinders Ranges. I'm a day late with my first entry in HWW! I'll be punctual next time!

I wanted to take another approach to present this iconic Red Gum in a less sunny form. This is the original sky with the clouds, already present, accentuated with a Lightroom mask.

Harold Cazneaux caught the attention of the Australian art community with his 1937 sepia photograph of this tree which he titled "Spirit of Endurance".

After many months of no rain and intense heat we then receive out wettest day in 45 years. It has been a summer of extremes with many records broken.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it and

will always try to reciprocate with a visit back to your stream

Mount Arden is on Argadells, a grazing property that offers tourist accomodation.

I was taken up to the summit of Mount Arden for sunset by the owners of the property.

Trying a shot in astro twilight but facing away from the light from the sun. A bit too late here, I didn't get there in time and spent too long trying to get a better composition, and I still wasn't happy with this! 3 shot vertical panorama, Sony lens, additional light from a flash and video light, processing with DXO Raw and Photoshop.
