A preening goose stops to see what I'm up to. I think this is a Taverner's Cackling Goose.

Cheetah ...

Acinonyx jubatus

The cheetah plays an important role as a predator on the African savannah. The fastest animal on land, the cheetah can reach speeds up to 70 miles per hour over short distances. A sleek body, flexible backbone, long legs, non-retractable claws, and muscular tail assist the cheetah during high speed chases. The dark tear mark below a cheetah’s eye, called a malar stripe, attracts the sunlight and keeps the glare of the sun out of its eyes. Once the cheetah is within striking distance of its prey, it swipes at the prey’s hind legs with its front paw and strong dewclaw to trip and knock it to the ground. Then it closes off the prey’s windpipe to suffocate it. Exhausted after the chase, the cheetah must rest for a while to recover.

Don't watch it wiggle, just seek random points and look at it. The point is that moving the scrunches around changes the feel without changing structural properties.

The idea is that some more-intelligent process would decide how to strategically annotate the cells and this code would warp it in a connectivity-preserving way. Instead of just light and dark cells, imagine the various things you would find in an RTS (spawn locations, resource tiles, ramps, decorated corners).

This experiment was inspired by a talk with Eskil Steenberg and his game Love.

Digi-Key Collegiate Computing Competition 2008

Photos from the 2008 Digi-Key Collegiate Computing Competition. The University of Minnesota, Morris, sent two teams (Flexible Tornados and Monkey Island Mafia), and the Flexible Tornados took first place in the overall competition!

Most of these photos are of UMM's teams, but some are of Digi-Key's staff (in the dark-ish green shirts) and faculty and students from other institutions.

These have been shrunk to speed up the uploading process, but other than that all these have been posted "as is" without any cleaning, cropping, or other editing.

Quelle souplesse !

Updating the emergency randonneuse to mini-Vs (the R3000 brifters pull more cable than regular brifters, so them + the mini-Vs give me enough of it so I don't need the travel agents any more) so I can move the travel agents over to the gravel®©™℠ bike and its parallel-push v-brakes.

The only clearance issue on the rear brake is that I don't want to squash the brake if I lean the bicycle against something. So a flexible noodle, which gives me some leeway at the cost of pushing the cable a little bit out from the NDS of the frame.
