so, i've been tagged. i think i'm supposed to share ten things about myself. well then, i guess i'll get started.
1. as you can tell, i'm very flexible. i can put my leg behind my head. my arm does this weird thing were it pops out in the middle. my legs bend backwards when i stand. my thumbs can touch my arm. yeah, it's pretty freaky.
2. my favorite color is green. i know, very important.
3. my zodiac sign is cancer. i'm very into horoscopes and such, probably because if you look up cancers, that description fits me entirely. i don't know. it fascinates me.
4. i have a learning disabilities. it has caused me to go through a great deal of sadness through out my entire childhood that i can never forget.
5. i used to figure skate. i skated for 2 years but i'm not gonna lie, i was a natural at it (haha). being extremely flexible helped out a lot. i want to start again, but unfortunately my local rink's roof collapsed from the amount of snow we received last winter. sucks.
6. i was born in alexandria, virginia.
7. i'm 5'2". i've been this height since 4th grade.
8. i'm in love with dr.pepper.
9. i've never had any type of dental work. holla!
10. my favorite animal is the wolf. always has been, and always will.

Shot for the Strobist Lighting 102 Assignment 1: Cooking Light.
A white ceramic salt shaker (Daiso: ¥100 shop) on white plastic. I found a piece of flexible, white plastic at Nafco here in Japan, and clamped it to the edge of the table so it ran a little up the wall, thus forming a seamless background.
A recent discovery: the SB-26's power is adjustable in 1/3 stops. You probably already knew that, but I wasn't smart enough to play with the flash`s exposure compensation in manual until the other day.
SB-26 on 1/64 power + 1/3ev. 24mm beam through circular 32" semi-transparent folding diffuser hand-held up close camera left. Diffuser angled to light background as well as subject.
Square 12x16" white-paper-on-cardboard reflector subject right.
In another version of this photo, I used an additional circular 32" white reflector in front of subject camera right to bring up the shadows on the right and remove reflections from around my living room, but didn't upload it because the resulting contrast was a little low. Thanks to my girlfriend for helping me to hold the reflectors!
The close distance between subject and background caused problems in some other photos I took of this subject because I wanted to light the background separately to blow it out for greater contrast. Trying to control spill as effectively as I wanted was beyond my level of skill with so many reflective surfaces so close.
Flexible, bending with the wind but never breaking. Capable of adapting to any circumstance. It suggests resilience, meaning that we have the ability to bounce back even from the most difficult times.
Our ability to thrive depends, in the end, on our attitude to our life circumstances. It reminds me to take everything in stride with grace, putting forth energy when it is needed, yet always staying calm inwardly. Like everything else worthwhile in life, the seed of a bamboo tree needs to be planted, fertilized and watered. Nothing happens for the first year. There´s no sign of growth. Not even a hint. The same thing happens - or doesn´t happen - the second year. And then the third year. The tree is carefully watered and fertilized each year, but nothing shows. No growth. No anything. For eight years it can continue. Eight years! Then - after the eight years of fertilizing and watering have passed, with nothing to show for it - the bamboo tree suddently sprouts and grows thirty feet in three months!!! :)

This is mom showing at my request how very flexible she still is at 56, she stopped doing martial arts more than 20 years ago due to scoliosis and stopped swimming as well due to severe cramps, she still has them periodically regardless of physicall activity or lack of it, she just has them, i assume it is related to her hypermobility..
Esta es mi madre mostrando a mi peticion lo flexible que es a sus 56 años, ella paró de hacer artes marciales hace mas de 20 años por tener escoliosis, y tambien dejó de nadar por calambres severos. Aun los padece, haga ejercicio o no haga nada, simplemente los tiene, supongo yo, como uno de los sintomas de hiperlaxitud.

Well, not really the first thing that came to mind (the first would not be rated 'safe' by Flickr). It has been my experience though, that most deadlines are somewhat flexible. ie: elastic in nature
