Scarlet Arrow on the Flexible Flyer Sled
This was my sled in my 'younger days,' circa 1963.
25 October 2014
Jessica: Tess has a great talent for dancing, and is more flexible than pretty much anyone ever.
Laura: This is the coolest *$#&ing thing. Every once in a while Tess will just go to this to a door frame to remind us how much ass she can kick.
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue participates with the school lunch, and holds a roundtable discussion with school nutrition professionals at North East Independent School District’s Castle Hill Elementary, in San Antonio, TX, on Jan 17, 2020. The tour was led by Student Lighthouse Team Member student Alessandra Fuini.
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced two proposals today that will put local school and summer food service operators back in the driver’s seat of their programs, because they know their children best. Under the school meals proposed rule, school nutrition professionals have more flexibility to serve appetizing and healthy meals that appeal to their students’ preferences and subsequently reduce food waste. The proposed rule also encourages state and local operators to focus resources on feeding children rather than administrative paperwork. These improvements build on the 2018 reforms that preserve strong nutrition standards while providing schools the additional flexibilities they need to best serve America's students. USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is customer-focused and responsive to our state and local partners. USDA’s relationships with schools and food service professionals has fostered a better understanding of what’s working, and what can be improved together. They've told USDA that while the reforms to date have improved operations, additional changes are needed to better serve nutritious meals that children will actually eat. These new flexibilities deliver on customer feedback, aimed at ensuring that red tape doesn't get in the way of serving kids healthy meals.
Other governmental officials included Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and USDA FNS Regional Administrator William Ludwig and North East ISD Superintendent Dr. Sean Maika.
The FNS mission is to increase food security and reduce hunger by providing children and low-income people access to food, a healthful diet and nutrition education in a way that supports American agriculture and inspires public confidence.

Yes, I was able to pull this off. I can say that trying to take your own picture with your fingers between your toes is rather difficult, even with a remote. But anyways, you can see that these Mocs are extremely flexible. And comfortable.

FLEXIBLE is the topic for Thursday, September 1, 2011
I'm beat. Figured I'd at least flex something flexible for the topic.
Currently MPs are receiving lots of letters from businesses opposing the Flexible Working Hours Bill. They need to hear that ordinary workers support the bill if it is to be passed.
Below is a simple email that you can send to your local Member of Parliament. Just follow these four steps:
1. Cut and paste this text text into an email:
“Subject: Please support the Flexible Working Hours Bill
Please support the Flexible Working Hours Bill and give employees with caring responsibilities the right to request flexible working arrangements.
Flexible working practices give people more say over when and where they work, and enables them to better balance their work and their caring responsibilities, while still getting the job done.
Flexible work is good for parents, good for children and for people caring for adult dependents. It is also is good for business, as employees who have more say over their working hours are likely to feel more positive about their work and to be more productive.
It has worked in Britain. Let’s make it work here.”
2. Add your name and address at the bottom of the email.
3. Find your local MP's email address here: www.parliament.nz/en-NZ/MPP/MPs/ and forward this email to that MP. Otherwise you can work out any MP’s email address because it will be firstname.lastname@parliament.govt.nz. For example: Winston.Peters@parliament.govt.nz
4. Make sure to CC the Coalition for Flexible Working Hours’ campaign organiser lmcintyre@paradise.net.nz into your email so we can track how many emails have been sent and to which MPs.

I have been fascinated by this photographer (Steve Z) who manages to get an amazing background while having his subjects tack sharp and brightly lit.
So here is what I am trying to do, create enough light to get both foreground and background sharp, colorful and well lit, without doing an HDR.
Oh and those branches are flexible aren't they?
