The "flat white", the core of the New Zealand coffee scene. This is somewhere between a cappucino and a latte, close cousin of the Cortado or Gibraltar. Needless to say I made it a point to quality check each and every cafe within sight.
Popped out for a couple of hours in the sunshine this afternoon..
Called in at Insomnia Cafe and found it had changed hands since last visit!!
Seems it was a franchise run cafe (Insomnia) and now the guys that were running it decided to stop the franchise and become independant and hence the name change!!
Nice 30 miles or so around my fav bits of the Peak District.
Taken at the Social Brew Cafe at Burleigh Heads. This is a famous cafe on the Gold Coast, known for its excellent food, coffee, service and trendy greenery focused decor.
It's that time of year again! The time for... presents! You guys have anything you really really want?
Ps: it was actually pretty hard to get this shot. Cup was kinda heavy to be holding with one finger of my left hand while trying to take the shot with the camera in my right. And no auto focus. And the cup handle was too small for my finger. Lol.
Had some terrible espresso yesterday morning. This flat white kinda made up for it.
edit: replaced cause I like this shot more.
Practising my latte art. Harder than it looks in the coffee shops.
Processed with VSCOcam with s3 preset

So I got a flat white to go with it! Nice! All that sugar should keep going through the night!! 😁
I work for Yorkshire Ambulance Service in and around the city of Sheffield in South Yorkshire.
It’s a great job and I feel very honoured to be able to help people at their point of need.
Check out the website for all sorts of info re YAS and the work we do.
The end of a cup of coffee. This was inspired by having seen this picture by Ladislav Rombald earlier in the week. Mine doesn't work nearly as well, but I liked the idea that most people (myself included) post pictures of a freshly made coffee ready to be consumed, but Ladislav's photo of the nearly drained espresso tells much more of a story. This photo is a reminder to me that I should try to find that story shot more often.
It was also an attempt to play with shape: lining up cups and saucers is a real pain, so here I was deliberately off centre but still trying to get an overall nice shape profile.
It was fun trying to recreate the shot by Ladislav without having a reference to hand, and only now seeing where mine differs in execution to that which inspired me. For example, I put the focus plane on the foam, as that had some detail to it, but I think the original works better by ensuring the lip of the cup is in focus to provide some definition in shape (though harder to do at an odd angle like I've gone for here).
