There is a store near my work where I go to buy my fruits and vegetables and they usually have tulips at the check out lanes and if I see some that day you can guarantee I will be adding it to my purchase. A little pick-me-up after a crazy work day.

Thanks so much for your visit. Have a nice evening!

Cold winter days call for warming up with cozy blankets or wraps and hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course!).

Thanks very much for your visit. I hope everyone is having a great day!

The Macro Mondays theme for tomorrow, 4/10, is knolling- arranging objects in a parallel or perpendicular fashion. Believe me it takes patience and a steady hand- I have an abundance of the former but not as much as I’d like of the later…… am pretty sure this will be my posting but I’m not done testing the patience and steady hand yet.

Thank you so much for your visits and comments, be well!

Daylight savings time has started today and clocks were moved ahead by one hour at 2:00 am.

Spring is coming! I have seen some robins these past couple of weeks so that is a good sign of spring despite the snow we are still getting. I wanted to share something cheery since I feel like total crap today. My three year streak of not having Covid came to an end yesterday. Not even a cold. I've had a few sore throats over these last three years but nothing I couldn't get rid of with vitamins and sleep. I suppose it has finally caught up to me and making up for lost time. As of today I have decided to quit my 365 photo a day project. It's been taking up too much of what little spare time I have. I will still be around, just not every single day. I must learn how to slow down and take care of myself but it has always been difficult for me. I have always helped others first. It is coming on one year since my husband severely broke his back from an accident. While he has come a long way with his recovery he still has much more to go so we are still dealing with that, work pressures, tight finances like everyone else and just everything else life throws at us and it's been hard. I don't handle stress well and it takes a toll on my mental health. Sharing this wasn't easy but it's reality. Make sure you look after yourselves. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Sunday. Stay well!

Day 177/365:

I do love the look and smell of stocks so couldn't resist this bunch. Obviously they had to star in a photo...or maybe more, who knows.

A fair bit of faffing with the edit. HSS

Crazy Tuesday

"Knolling" - THEME of 6th April 2021

Composition, Try to use as much pasta as I could, I made it using stone plates, in 3 of them are the colors of the flag of Italy with olive oil and basil, garlic and tomatoes; farfalle paste makes up the second flag, and the hearts of Italy the third; the fourth dish I decided to make the flower since Italy is a romantic country and loves pasta as much as a good pizza, and good food and wine, are very demanding with quality. I made the flower with TORTELLINI and egg using only the yolk, the pasta is made with a base of flour, water, salt egg and olive oil, the three components are part of the cologe

Here are the kinds of pasta i use:

SPAGHETTI

STELLINE

BUCATINI

RAVIOLI

TORTELLINI

TAGLIATELLE

RIGATONI

FUSILLI

FARFALLE

CUORE DI PASTA

POMODORI

AGLIO

OLIO DI OLIVA EXTRA VIRGEN

BASILICO

UOVO

FARINA

We collected a load of these for a school project in Autumn. They will be destroyed shortly as they grow EVERYWHERE and quickly take over!

I don't collect old scissors!

These scissors live in a drawer ever since I taught all sorts of art and craft in my studio.

Ik verzamel geen oude scharen!

Deze scharen liggen in een laatje omdat ik vroeger kunst en handarbeid lessen gaf aan kinderen en volwssenn, in mijn atelier.

I LOVE vegetables of all shapes, textures, and colors. I sometimes wonder why I live in Maine as a year-round warmer climate would allow growing my own vegetable supply.

This is the cat-free version. Of course, I have a... cat-full (?) version, since Pixie had to inspect my work before it was approved for posting.

“To everything (turn, turn, turn)

There is a season (turn, turn, turn)

And a time to every purpose, under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die

A time to plant, a time to reap

A time to kill, a time to heal

A time to laugh, a time to weep....” The Byrds

If you look carefully at the wreath pictured, you will see seasons of the year that many of us celebrate. This year, at this time, we are celebrating at home, often without being surrounded by family and friends. Let’s hope that soon a new season will bring hope and healing. Turn, turn, turn.....

#Knolling

Something strange happened: I had my MM image photographed and processed by Friday evening. That's a first ;)

When we had "Knolling" as a theme for the first time, I'd skipped, because I simply couldn't think of anything to knoll, let alone how to arrange it nicely. So this time I wanted to meet the challenge. My idea was to choose tiny things that I have collected as macro props over the years. But then the porcelain cat pendant that I keep in a small glass bowl together with other souvenirs and lucky charms caught my eye. And that gave me the idea to knoll some of my lucky charm keepsake pendants of which you already have seen three in MM themes: the silver heart, the tiny golden key, and the pendant with my zodiac sign engraved. Other than that most of these pendants are "animal themed", they also share their "fate" of never being actually worn – with the exception of the Cancer sign pendant which I got for my 7th birthday on a holiday in Italy. I think I have worn that from time to time, later it was attached as a lucky charm to the keyring/carabiner hook I keep my apartment keys on. The other pendants are presents or souvenirs from my childhood (the heart, the elephant, the bird), more recent presents (the key), and souvenirs from holidays (the porcelain cat, and the tiger cat which I brought along from Passau).

Size info: I decided to use the entire 7,5 cm / 3 inches frame (width) for "Knolling", negative space and image border (which is an overlayed, slightly transparent border, not an extra frame) included, so the items wouldn't be too cramped and the image could breathe. I didn't want to take the "mugshot with ruler", but the tiny key can serve for scale because it is exactly 1,5 cm / 0,59 inches long.

The final image is an in-camera focus stacking made of 15 photos. I've arranged the items on my tablet case, a totally random choice, because I'd only collected all pendants on my tablet simply because it lay right next to the glass bowl. But the case's light blue, textured surface made for a surprisingly nice-looking backdrop, and it also looked fresher than the gold-coloured cardboard or wooden coaster I'd originally wanted to use as background. Processed in Lightroom and Color Efex (Detail Extractor).

HMM, and Happy Easter Monday, Everyone!
