Edward Street Flats are a social housing complex in Sheffield. Building started in the late 1930s and was completed after WWII.
There are 133 flats arranged in a "D" shape with a 4 storey high build on Edward Street and 3 storey high build on Solly Street side.
The flats are now a mix of Council, Housing Association and private ownership. Some flats are rented out by private landlords.

Knitting handspun wool into a flat sock as per the Twisted Sisters Sock Book, just to see how it works. I had no real plan and so just added colours randomly where ever it appealed to me.
I rather like it. After sewing in the seam (not shown), I have only to put in a heel for this sock to be finished.
Note to self: jot down numbers of rows of each colour when doing socks like this. You have to make two that are fairly similar, remember??
The historic Macraes Flat goldmining town is well worth the detour if you are interested in seeing how a goldmining operation is run today. The enormous Macraes gold mine makes a spectacular sight. The scale of the operation and the scale of the vehicles used today is certainly impressive. This lucrative goldmine still produces about 170,000 ounces of gold annually! Tours of the current Oceana Gold Macraes Gold Mine can be pre-arranged.
Take a break at the Stanleys Hotel in Macraes Flat while you are there. The historic Hotel has lost none of its charm. You can also explore the old Golden Point Battery which is 5kms from Macraes Flat. What a contrast to how gold mining is done today!

Turn Your Wine or Liquor Bottle into Lasting Mementos of Special Occasions! A great example of clever and stylish re-use of everyday objects. Hot Bottles are glass wine bottles which have been recycled and transformed into these desirable individual serving boards. They look great as a center-piece on the table but where they really come into their own is when used as cheese boards or for serving up nibbles like olives or sushi.
